@@derhandyretter I'm currently in the process of replacing that upper glass and noticed that what looks like a flat antenna cable being glued to it. Would have been good to have a look at it too

Hey man. I noticed that the wireless charger stayed intact when you removed tbe glass.. how hard is it to separate that withoyt damaging it and is that something the heat helps with? What technique do you recommend to separate the glass from the wireless charger
@bakadeshi_aunstudios29 күн бұрын
I have successfully done it on the pixel 6 pro, which is a very similar setup. you have to use lots of 99% isopropriel alcahol and gently pick at the glass until it comes out peice by peice. its actually easier to remove it when its shattered than if the glass is mostly whole. if you have larger peices of glass, gently pull up on the glass and use a syringe or other tool that allows you to squirt the alcohol under the glass. repeat this process until you get the whole peice off. you just have to be very gently and patient and do it one at a time, if its too stuck, soak it in more alcohol and give it a few minutes to penetrate the glue. the trick is to not cut any of the metal for the wireless charger as you pick at the glass, or pull it hard enough to damage it. Its very easy to damage. but if you work patiently and gently, its possible to get it all loose without damage.

Where did you find OE replacement of glass?
@CassiniA3123 ай бұрын
probably on ifixit, but honestly since this is just a glass replacement you can just use a generic one with the google logo.

@@derhandyretter The wireless charging receiver (copper coil) under the back cover. There are no videos showing how to replace or repair that unit and a lot of people have had problems with losing wireless charging functionality when the phone takes a fall/the back glass shatters. I am in the process of getting the parts to try and repair mine. If I have the opportunity to film it I will try, but the quality will be no where near yours OP.

The fact that we still have glass backsides in 2023 is just rediculous and maybe the biggest cash grab in industrialization. (Besides the finance market)

It's glass, plastic, or composite if you want to keep wireless charging.
@MaxPower2307 Жыл бұрын
@@calenwalker No! No one needs wireless charging besides some tech nerds or people who believes that the talking from so-called „Tech-KZbinrs“ are important. At the end of the day, you still gotta plug in your MagSafe in the socket!!! So for 100% I'd rather take the aluminum Backside! If there would be the option...
@Caius1930 Жыл бұрын
@@MaxPower2307 Completely agree. Happy to finally see someone with common sense about phone materials. There's an irrational and idiotic passion for glass out there. Exposed aluminium feels more premium and is better for performance. Plastic, well, at least it's durable and not hard to take off. It's truly weird what Google has done with this pixel. I assume it's the aluminium backplate that we see under the glass?

i personal just use it in the car. But on long distance with using google maps i get even over heating signal :-)

@@derhandyretter that's terrible cooling. How hard can it be for them to use decent thermal interface material and connect it to the aluminium frame?
