Glad to see another Pixel 8 review. It is promising that you really had no real negatives for the phone. Other than Google disabling some features for the 8. Which happens with every phone brand they take away features from the base models to upsell you to the more expensive model. That's not really a negative in my opinion because you know for $300 less you aren't gonna be getting everything the 8 pro gets. It's common sense that you must be realistic when it comes to your expectations. At least for me I'm very happy Google managed to fix alot of my issues with the 6 and 7 series.

Thanks a lot for highlighting the regular model. Most reviewers go for the pro models first. I have always used an Android, but moved to iOS a year ago. The more I use an iPhone in my work life, the more I miss the ‘smart’ features of Android. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy using my iPhone too (I especially appreciate their focus on privacy), but for productivity it doesn’t even come close to Android. This phone is almost the perfect device for me. I require a second phone now for work, and it only makes sense for me to go back to Google. My requirements are quite simple: Good camera Software support Good battery life Loud (and quality) speakers Some ‘smart’ productivity features Good haptics (iPhones spoil you with their haptics) Simple timeless design and a clean UI ‘Smallish’ Screen size (I cannot go back to using giant phones ever again) The smaller pixel checks all the boxes.

@vs3.14 Жыл бұрын
Thank you Ranjit for taking the time to do a thorough test of the features available in the devices. I had a few a ideas I was hoping you could take a look at. Price - I think the price for Pixel and Pixel pros should be fixed at 55k and 85k-90k (if Pro has a better ultra wide lens and the normal one has the same capabilities as the pro for the main sensor. It's a phone marketed as a camera phone with amazing AI. It should come with such options in that case). At least so long we consider $1k a flagship in US. I understand the need to increase the price for taxes and such from USD to INR. But we simply do not have that kind of income here to be able to comfortably buy a phone for >1L. Much less needs to be said about phones costing 1.6L. Heating - Could you please check if it heats up while the magic editor is being used? (I know you mentioned it does). But what I mean to test is, how long does it take for the phone the turn off the gallery app? I saw some initial user reviews on flipkart saying, it is shutting down the gallery app after some editing. But "Some editing" is very subjective. Any number would be really helpful. Usecase - Stretching the above mentioned point a little further, could you check the heating issue if the phone is being used as a a primary recording device in a sunny day outside? The pixel 7s would shut down video after about 9 minutes. I think, a flagship phone in 2023, should at least be capable of constant camera usage in outdoors for at least 30 minutes without severe overheating. (Is that a decent expectation to have? I really dunno😅 If you could answer that would be great.). Benchmarks are never really that practical in day to day usage. As long as the phone can be used for a day without the need of constant battery top off throughout and the phone shutting down after 15 minutes being used as a camera. But Google doesn't exactly provide a reliable experience. Starting from them going back on their promises before to the overheating of the pixels so far after around 3 months. What do you think? Would love some clarity on these doubts I have.
@yellowflash511 Жыл бұрын
Don't agree with the price part. What apple has been doing this for years in India even after manufacturing is done in India they still loot Indians and Indians don't mind cause wow apple and now they have problem with Google pricing which isn't even as high as iphones? I think 8pro is definitely overpriced but 8 pricing is good at 75k. Maybe drop to 70k but 75k for pixel 8 with 7 years updates is a good deal in India.
@vs3.14 Жыл бұрын
@@yellowflash511 I am not gonna justify the price of a phone based on what some other ridiculous pricing is employed by another company. In fact, I did berate the pricing of 1.6L in my comment. My argument is this, the price of $1k is a flagship Category. And in US the avg salary is $50k/year. Now let's take a look at Indian ratio. According to the economic times as of May 26th 2022, if you earn 3L per annum you already at top 10% earners in India. Even if I only count that percentage (which is giving the whole ratio of earning to prices a HUGE discount) even then, the US ratio is 50:1 for earning to price of a flagship. In India, you do the math. It will come to a much lower price than what I quoted. And I am not even arguing that this should indeed be the price for a fair deal. All I am saying is, here we consider 50k to be a premium price and 80k is simply flagship. That should be employed at the very least.
@kartikey92 Жыл бұрын
Go for the iPhones They nowadays make more sense and value for money in their respective price for example, play bgmi on 12 for 2 hours, it won't throttle because how good things are optimised (even tho benchmarks are the same as SD870's) but on pixel, it gets throttled to about 48% after 20-30 mins of heavy use meaning you're throttled to snapdragon 845-55 is performance) and 12 costs 35k and pixel 8 costs 65k during the sale. (50% cheaper yet comparable cameras, Better video quality, well optimised UI and apps and better performance with similar-ish battery performance. Imagine when you go for the 15 which competes with the price of pixel with way-waaayyyy better performance, battery backup, video quality, again comparable pictures and after a year when resident evil isn't exclusive to the pro. Pixel is good if they were selling it for 45k-50k. (Think, apart from the AI thing, hardware wise this phone performs worse than the 30-35k iqoo and poco phones and they're charging another 40k for the software and AI things??? Which I don't find fair, so 30k for hardware and 15k for software and AI magic which, iqoo and poco phones don't have)

Hi Ranjit, Was waiting for your first impression on the Pixel 8. For your upcoming video want to know which is the best buy (in India) the Pixel 8 vs the Pixel 8 pro. Are the additional features provided in the pro model (software wise worth it), will they be enabled in base model. As you mentioned the pricing is bit high in India so which is the ideal to buy the Pixel.

In 🇮🇳, many people purchase smartphones for around Rs 15,000. Generally around Rs 15,000 Android smartphone users, use their phones for 2 to 3 years. Then it becomes outdated. * Rs 15,000 smartphones generally don't get Android updates after 2 years.

I had Pixel 2xl and I moved to IPhone and using IPhone 13 now. Is it worth moving to Pixel 8. Pixel 8 pro seems to be expensive.

It's the price hike in India that concerns me? It it's available at Rs. 89K for the Pixel 8 Pro without a Bank Discount and available at 10% off on credit Card, ie. Rs. 99K - 9.9K, I'd go for it!! But it's not worth it considering there's only a handful of Pixel After-Sales Service in my region. So, I'd say if they already have enough after-sales service like Samsung.. I'd still go for the Pixel 8 Pro...
