I have the 8 now but I downright loved my 5. Best smartphone I owned to date, perfect size. Battery was the weak point though. if it had gotten longer software support I would have kept it.

The processor is indeed the biggest downside of the phone, as well as the speakers imo, but this phone was never meant for hardcore users. I use it a ton and did get a battery replacement, which was awesome, and I don't do anything that requires intense computing. It lags under normal use at times, but I'll happily trade a bit of lag and whatnot for a physical fingerprint sensor and it's form factor overall.

1000% correct. It's called "Battery Share" on my Pixel5 under battery settings and the way it's called out here, I would have thought it would have been confirmed better. I've used this feature only once on the train commuting, but since then I have a small portable battery charger that I keep in my backpack so not an important to me anyway. Love my Pixel 5 and (battery saving) 90Hz screen. Stuck on Android 14 and no more security updates, which is the issue now. Still running great and no issues here in mid-2024.

I picked up a used (but literally new) P8 for 320 euro in Sweden where I live. I also had my P5 for several years and like it a lot, but the battery and that it feels slow sometimes made me upg. to the P8. Ofc the good price was a determining factor as well.

you said the google pixel 5 doesn't have reverse wireless charging which it does . 2:26 . i got the pixel 5 a while ago and i personally think that google would need to improve on battery drainage when not in use with the tensor chips before i would consider upgrading . also the android support can also be elongated by custom roms .

@@zespacedog brighter, just looks better. But it's also probably because it's new. OLED screen tend to wear after 2-3 years. For materials I use it with a case but it's still nice to have the metal bar visible

Is it just me or i think the best position of the hole punch camera is still the top left corner. When your playing games you can cover that and when your watching a video it is stock on the bottom which is the best i think

I recently upgraded from pixel 5 to pixel 8, even though I didn't really want to, as I loved my pixel 5. But the difference in experience is ENORMOUS. 120hz refresh rate is way better, photo quality is way better. Fingerprint sensor is a real issue though 😅

I have the Pixel 4a, 5 and 6a. The main thing holding me back from buying a Pixel 8 is the in-screen finger print reader. It sucks on the 6a. The rear reader on the 4a and 5 are fast and flawless.

Pixel 5 is my daily driver. It is an awesome phone. I was looking if there are any other phones in Google that are at least somewhat similar dimensions. Thank you for the video. Now I might be upgrading to 8 (when 9 comes out of course and price drops). So far however I stopped carrying my Pixel 5 in any kind of protective case and it's a very pleasant experience because of the mate plastic feel it has. I still not so confident what kind of feel would Pixel 8 have. And the price tag on it i holding me majorly back as then I would be too worried to destroy it. For the price of several pixel 5.

1) Pixel 5 generally has less "Ai" help with pictures which makes them more natural. 2) you are whispering for some reason and getting many things wrong 3) The design of the newer Pixels are ugly to me 4) You just say this is a good phone and this isn't a good phone? I was really excited about the pixel 8 when it came out but now I don't see much of a need to upgrade from my 5. The 5 is an excellent phone TO THIS DAY. I recently went out for dinner with some colleagues and when it came time to take pics, my pixel 5 blew the iphone 13, 14 pro and the galaxy fold way out of the water. Idk if they got a software update or what but even the video quality has improved a ton

Similar thing happened to us with picture taking. We tried to take a picture at a baseball park with 1st an iphone 15 (the large one), then a Samsung S10 and they both couldn't handle the bright field in the background with people in the foreground. Just for kicks, we tried my Pixel5 and it was the best of the three. Perhaps the others could have done better with changing of settings, but just out of the box, the Pixel5 version was the one that everyone wanted.

The fact that you said that the pixelated has the more premium materials which is just Glass and metal I mean that makes no sense. The pixel 5 has a metal underlay with a plastic type coating don't have to worry about a glass back breaking on the pixel 5 and still has wireless charging and the hole punch is subjective as well...

Appreciate you doing these reviews as I'm looking at leaving my p5>p8 once my battery dies. Will be a more useful comparison if you were to update the software and apps on the p5 though. Is it still on A13? Camera app certainly needed updating. All this can affect opening times / smoothness of transitions etc

using a pixel 5 after a few years since my galaxy screen smashed. the chrome browser does not load content, apps dont load any data - have to reboot the phone to get it working again. otherwise its refreshing to have a compact light phone. but battery is apalling

Hy and greetings from germany. I see you've installed roblox on Pixel 8. I bought the pixel 8 pro in October and it runs very poor. Fps from 11 to 25 it was unplayable. I sold the p8pro and bought an s23u but the phone is so hugh. Now its December and i hope a few updates make the game playable. Can you say me it works now? Or still unplayable.
