Storage is plenty for me, I have the cloud service, so never needed even 128. I love the Pixels and have since the Nexus. Thank God it exists. Every phone needs a case, you'll only look at your naked device when you trade it in.

I agree with all of these. Although the close all button in the recents is the least important to me since it's genuinely not a good idea to regularly close out all of the apps anyway. Unless there is an issue. Closing out apps can often use more resources than leaving them open since Android will immediately restart any background processes that it needs anyway. And clearing the app from ram causes you to actually use more power and slow it down when you wake it up again, since it is starting from a full stop.

@@RyanOlmstead you are 100% correct. I actually was doing some homework on that area a while back. So yes I totally agree. I don't like to close out my apps very often, but if I want to, I like it to be a simple process lol😬

@@myproject13ttt Definitely. It's a silly placement for the button. I'm hoping to switch to a Pixel this year, so thank you for the videos

In any event people have different preferences so you could just offer customization toggle. Whether it use more resources or not I prefer to keep my phone clean. It's not even necessarily about preserving battery or resources It's just organization. I can focus better if I don't have a bunch of apps that are open unless I absolutely need them to be active.

@@RyanOlmsteadyeah for what it's worth I still think pixels are great phones. I just usually encourage people to consider buying like a Pixel 7 Pro or an 8 Pro or something like that which you can get it I don't know between 30 to 40 cents on the dollar usually. Woot had the Pixel 7 Pro brand new with 12 months warranty recently for 380, and I think was 460 to go all the way up to 512 GB. There really hasn't been a ton of progress in terms of performance or charging speeds or anything or even camera performance between then and now. Sure the Pixel 9 Pro is better but I doubt it's $800 better. Then when the Pixel 7 Pro is 2 years older than ever by then the Pixel 9 Pro bowl probably be 50 cents on the dollar or less. I do recognize though that some people just really want to have the latest phone or their financing something through a post-paid carrier in which case they don't actually have older versions of these phones available But for me I never use postpaid I always just go to Amazon or eBay or Best buy or something grab a phone and bring my own device to whatever carrier has a good deal.

@@michaelcorcoran8768 Good advice. Although I'm using an S22 Ultra right now so I would not switch to anything that wasn't newer. Plus I tested the 6 pro and 7pro and at least in my area, there were significant signal issues. Those appear to be fixed on the 9 series with the new modem that they are using. So it's really the 9 series is really the only Pixel option I can consider. I have not yet decided whether I will pull the trigger this year, or wait for the 10 though.

One thing driving me nuts is the icon theming that's been beta for 3 versions of Android and Apple effectively embarrassed Google with a nearly complete dark mode and tinting option that covers 99% of icons in their beta 18. Annoying 😂.

Just give me an SD card slot so I can cheaply add all the storage I need (and instantly move files to another device). Costs almost nothing for the manufacturer that wants to sell memory for 5 to ten times what it costs a single individual to buy. Peace Ps Long live my LG phones!

Remember the often misunderstood point. Nexus had stock Android. This isn't stock android on Pixel. This is Pixel's unique skin on top of Android. I play with a Pixel my 7 Pro and I feel Pixel skin- not stock. Just bc Android is owned by Google doesn't define Stock or Vanilla Android. Stock android is more like Blu phone or a Chinese Intnl handset. Nothing added, just Vanilla.

No I don't think it's Nick picking those are legitimate concerns consumers really want to know especially with this ridiculous 128 gigs of storage and you selling out a grand for this phone that's crazy. I'm all about accuracy as well when it comes to screen on time so on and so forth for example Galaxy watch 5 pro that I wear it's supposed to track my sleeping I'll wear it as I go to sleep and I'll wake up and it says I've only slept 1 hour and I know I've slept longer than that so that's a source of irritation. Glossy design absolutely going to be micro scratch city. But I'm still blown away by that storage configuration because I have a Motorola edge Plus 2023 to me the underground King of smartphones of 2023 that no one talked about everybody shouting Samsung ,Google Apple from the rooftops this phone quietly one of the best experiences for stock Android as well this phone storage comes at 512 gigabytes and I think they sold that for starting price $7.99.99 but now you can get it for $499.99 so nowhere near the price you're paying for the Google pixel XL 9 pro

I'm a techie. Never have I used all 128 GB in my handsets. I know, I know. Not enough in picture taking but I haven't. So I'm not bothered. I'm sure I'm not by myself on it.

1) The price increase is definitely annoying. 2 years in a row. People keep blaming inflation but it's actually I've been increasing it a slower rate. It's really not a valuable excuse in 2024. 2)Half the features being locked behind a paywall is also a huge annoyance. 3) removing distinctions that made it you more unique. Like getting rid of the visor on the fold and the pixel 9A according to projections. 4) 128 gigs? For a $1,200 flagship and 2024? Not cool 5) exynos hardware. I'm not going to fault them too hard here since they've already rectified this with the contract with TSMC for 2025. But still it's a lame duck year in terms of internals

Yeah, Google in part has an incentive to keep your storage limited because it increases the likelihood you're going to back up all your photos and such to Google one. Samsung and One Plus don't have this perverse incentive, although one Samsung does have a financial relationship with Microsoft and pre-installs a lot of their clouds solutions.
