Google Pixel 9 Pro XL - Google's Doing What Samsung Didn't

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL will be the first mainstream Android smartphone to get satellite communication features. Interestingly, Samsung was expected to bring this feature first on their smartphones but the plan was axed at the last moment. So the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL will become the first Android phone to have this feature.

I guess one of the first questions regarding personal communications from a time traveller comming all the way from 1980 to 2024 is wondering why we still don't have broad access to portable satellite connectivity devices/phones. I make myself the same question. Devices exist but are not easily obtainable by the public and are not integrated into the cell phones. I think Elon Musk might be one of the first to step into this, the same way he is doing with his broadband satellite internet plans for houses and vehicles.

So sad that two-way satellite connectivity didn't make it to the public. I was very excited about this feature, I have been waiting for it since there were rumours about it being included in the S23 Ultra... It would be pretty useful in non-emergency situations as the cell phone coverage isn't perfect even in crowded areas.
