Hey, include the nighttime video performance of front cameras as well. That's another area where you see a huge difference between devices that are otherwise very similar. Pixel lineup has huge amount of noise and customers deserve to know that before buying. Most reviewers decided to stay silent regarding this issue though. Google must stop neglecting it!

I can't attest to just how bad it is on the pixel 9 series, but every single smartphone, including the latest iPhones, have poor video quality at night on the front-facing camera. Every. Single. Smartphone. Has. This. Problem. The whole idea of the selfie camera has to be rethought out, reimagined. We got so focused on eliminating bezels and camera cutouts/notches that we didn't give the companies any room to improve on the front facing cameras. ASUS had the right idea with Zenfone 7 and 8 with the rear cameras that flipped over to face forward. No need for a separate camera on the front, leaving no cutout or notch, and they had the full strength of the main cameras of the phone for taking selfie pictures and video.

Front cameras have horrible night time video performance because the sensors are tiny .. you can work around that with photos thanks to stacking and processing but video is a bit more "raw" output.

That's all very true, but Pixel 9 video noise is still way too critical compared to other flagship cameras with the same tiny sensors and same overall problems. Direct comparison of nighttime front video on iPhone 15/16, Galaxy S24 adn Pixel 9/9Pro shows crazy amount of noise that looks like a pouring rain. That's not about physical limitations or the same problem across all devices. It's just Pixel performs poorly and all reviewers stay silent about it. Though I'm a Pixel fan, that's really sad to see.

Great video as always! Why is it during camera tests... always think that the phone being reviewed is the best camera..... I'm eagerly awaiting to see what google does next. I like the idea of the 9 pro XL, and I love larger screens with my vision impairments, but I'm thinking I wanna fold into google for my next big upgrade. I don't upgrade phones much. I had the pixel 6 pro for 3 years before it borked on me and they sent me the 7 pro as a replacement. I'm also eagerly awaiting the one plus fold 2... to see what that will be all about. again great video David keep up the excellent work!!!
