@@theologyuniversity Actually I think Google and the rest of the big search engines are in trouble. Once someone 'open sources' the AI that becomes it's own search engine that anyone can download and use, it's lights out for the big SE's. That's A LOT of the mad race going on now in the top tiers of the AI Dev world, imo. Trying to unleash the genie without it getting out of their control. (meaning Google, Bing, and Faceplant)

My takeaway from this is that unless you're prepared to make KZbin videos, your blog hasn't got a hope in hell of being included in SGE because that will be reserved for the 'trusted' big players only.

Not necessarily. My website/blog is only a year four months old and I've manage to not only get a snippet or two, but also show up on a handful of SGEs. However! My personal blog posts seem to do better with SGE compared to my more factual, well researched posts. Also, if I show up on SGE, I'm not showing up on the first page of search results if at all. But if I show up on page one of search, I may or may not show up on SGE. So it's a toss up for me right now. But I wouldn't discount the idea that small websites/blogs like mine, aren't and won't be able to show up in an SGE.

I miss Alta Vista more every day that goes by. I do NOT, repeat NOT, want an AI-generated answer. It's not able to read my mind but is able to be influenced; is not able to understand serendipity or what suggestions can trigger in a human mind, but is able to be programmed to prioritize (or bury) anything 3rd parties determine should be fed to me or denied to me. SEO has plenty of problems, but the interesting, helpful, idea-changing, plan-changing, positive, and sometimes life-easing finds I've made without the interference of an "intelligent" system narrowing down the already... um, curated... search results even more stringently.

I would think local businesses have an even bigger opportunity to capitalize on this. You're in a smaller pool, so if you're the only one making great, human content, search engines/AI search will probably rank you a lot higher.

I think your correct on the only real 'human' connection will be video. The AI text and images are already flooding the web, as well as video, and it's only going to grow, fast. Putting out real content moving forward is almost going to have to include real videos, so people know it's real. My concern is people using AI to copy "my likeness" and videos. Looking for solutions for that now!
