Great job on the tutorial. Presented perfectly. Easy to understand and digest. I grabbed part two and was equally as happy. Already implemented many of the tags. In terms of reporting in GA would you need to create custom dimensions and metrics and add them as part of the variable and tag?

Charles Brocato hi Charles. It all depends what you want to report on. But yes, for more in depth reporting you would set custom dimensions and metrics on either the GA base pageview tag or GA events. For example, setting up page author as a custom dimension and pulling it from the data layer and setting it as an attribute of the GA page view tag. It all depends on what you want to report on. Start with a measurement plan and implement as appropriate:)

Thanks for wonderful tutorial. This has helped me a lot and i am definitely getting part 2! I have 3 basic questions 1. on the " install GTM" page of tag managers'admin area, Google provides 2 codes, one to be pasted in the and another on the . Do we have paste both of these codes on every page ? 2. Can GTM be used to create tags for Adobe Analytics use ? or it's better to use other tag managers like Tealium (i have not learned to use this yet) 3. Is it okay to have both GTM codes/tags and other tag management codes (like tealium) on the same page ? my current workplace uses both Google and Adobe Analytics.

James Kay 1. Second tag is for people with JavaScript enabled. 2. Either work. Non GTM tag managers have more built in AA tags though and better SLAs if you're an enterprise company. 3. Yes. You can have multiple tag managers. You can even deploy one through the other.

Rudy Roesel yes. Remember, GTM is basically a content management system for marketing tags (and custom JS). If you want tags on your sites, then you have to either hardcode them or use a tag manager like GTM. You can choose to put the same GTM container on every website, or have a different container per website. All depends on your requirements.

Hey fantastic video! Quick question though - I have a form that has 3 pages before you submit the form. Meaning that you click "next" 3 times and then hit the "submit" button. However, after setting this up, each time I click "next" the tag fires showing that I have submitted the same form 3 times when I only submitted it once... Any suggestions on how to solve that? Hey, this is great thanks! I have one question though! When you set up a dev and live site environment do you use the same UA tracking ID? May sound like a stupid question, but I dont want my live UA tag firing on my dev site, do I need to create a separate GA profile for the GTM dev environment. This has been soooo helpful!

Thank you very much for the material. I have some doubts if posible to answer. After creating events on GTM there is no need to create the event from GA? Cause I have some forms that doesn't change url so I was creating events on GA so I could track them. This would be another way of doing it, right? In this case scenario when I choose a Trigger type, in the case the URL doesnt change after filling the form, I need to choose "Custom event" or its still useful with "Form submission? If I do this right, I should be able to analyse the event properly from GA? Right now I am analysing it from the event created (code instaled in the botton) from GA. Thank you very much!
