It already is, IF you can prove their intent. The problem is I can argue I built this for legal use in research and haven't used it; unless you can prove I've used it, or intend to knowingly sale it for criminal use I'm exempt. However they MIGHT be able to get you on the illegal specifications if they are illegal as I suspect. The FTC regulates very tightly who can transmission on what frequencies at what level of power. WiFi is free for anyone to use without a license but it has to stay under a 100 watts, I actually think it has to stay WAY under 100 watts but not sure what then number is so I'm ball parking it. I've seen articles on how to build these for years, over a decade. The military has had them since the late 80's as insane as that might sound. The police since 9/11. Back in the early days of smart phones you could install an app to detect these but those of us who have foil hats think the government put pressure on telco's to remove that function from the IC's used in transceivers. My old HTC One (m7) would alert me a few times a year that an "unregistered cellular tower" was detected and it turns off the cellular automatically. Now days more modern cellular communication chips somehow lack the ability to relay the towers ID. I knew this day would come..

They’re now flying this technology over city’s with planes and now drones stealing anyone’s imei numbers that comes in contact and once your phone is connected they’ll be able to see absolutely everything on your phone or device that connected with the cell site simulator stingray technology.

Yeah good luck Apple coming up with a fix anytime soon. They are Notorious to come out with a feature decades after Android had it.

Can you turn off news and ads coming to your phone w an android? I feel like Google stops you from turning these kinds of things off I get zero spam about news etc on my iPhone but to be honest I miss the flip phones where I can go out without all this stuff in my phone

I like how the reporter has to shill for apple with some random comments that "apple could patch this in the future" but where did her get that info? He pulled it out of his ass. Yellow journalism, no matter how innocent or small it's wrong and should be called out.

unless you are trying to dial 911 from a remote area, why would your phone connect to 2g?
@STVYT4 ай бұрын
Some commenters are claiming that the iPhone will connect to the strongest signal but I’m not 100% convinced of that. Carriers want you to see 5G and be excited. Period my understanding is it prioritizes the highest technology until that is not available and then falls back to LTE and then falls back to the next etc

What do you mean, the video just now came out, you could NOT have known! Lol. Just kidding. Yeah, I first heard about the Stingray devices that cops were using about 15 years ago. This is like hearing about an 8 track player as being a new idea to people. It's little wonder the prisons are packed with people who went down because of cell phone usage.
@MilesAndCounting4 ай бұрын
@@TheTraveler33 especially when the user of the Stingray can program the “cell tower” location etc, but a SCOTUS case took care of that.

My Android doesn't have an option to disable 2G. It only has a toggle for Smart 5G and 4G. Does that mean I'm safe?

So,. Google is kind enough to offer advice on how to defeat old-technology scammers... How about offering us a way to defeat Google's own algorithms so that we can see what they may be hiding from us?

Seems a simple solution for iphone is to set your phone to always ask before connecting to unknown networks. If this simple solution works it should've been mentioned
