As i've done a camper conversion i will say: Dont do a granite worktop, especially for an offroader. it WILL crack. Composite boards or at a push solid wood is your best bet. Make sure you have soft close sliders in those cabinets, so there's a slight resistance when opening. That fridge isnt for caravan use, but i also run domestic with no problems. Major issues can be the door coming open ( buy a child lock latch off amazon), movement causing compressor issues (do NOT leave plugged in), always turn off and keep closed when off, it will stay closed for a few hours when unplugged. Leave to settle when stopped for the night for about an hour, then switch on. Just hoping you make no rookie mistakes, if you need any help on plumbing or especially electrical let me know!

My 38' travel trailer has a house type refrigerator in it. Never had any issues with it opening while in transit. Always was one of the first things turned on when setting up. 16 years later, still runs likeje a champ.

This isn’t the case with the new compressors in the fridges... “don’t lay them down”, “don’t shake them around”!!! That’s 1980 styles! This is 2020!!

@@pistolpete1101 I do somewhat agree, mine is now a year old, forget every so often to unplug, still working great, same layout as the one the boys here bought too with the little freezer. Just hoping everything goes right, I've had my fair share of issues!

We own a camper and having a exhaust fan in the ceiling helps with removing heat and odors. They make one that is an exhaust and inlet fan for campers. Might help when cooking too.

Put the Cabinet and fridge in the other side where the secondary door is, not on the main door side I think it would look a lot cleaner when you open the main door your not staining at the fridge and cabinet from the ground

I agree plus if you put it on the left side and use the idea i had with the water tank. It would be less plumbing to run. The water tank in the middle spot. Electric water pump to the left and the sink and outdoor shower hookup on the same side. You could also pip a bypass thatd loop back to the tank to pump water into it.

I have a pop up camper the folds up to about the same square footage. I recommend making two small benches on opposite sides that start at the back wall and then extend to where they meet the cabinets (or as deep as you want the bed to be). Then create a table in the middle that can be used during the day and then at night have the table supports ( I recommend one pole in the middle of the table that extends to the floor) detach where the tabletop can lowered to the base of the bench and create a bridge in between the benches that can be used as a bed.The cushions that are used for the back support of the bench rearrange to cover the tabletop and make a mattress out of the seat cushions. Then for the second bed I would just do a suspension bed on top of the first one that lowers from the back wall where it was stored and out of the way. This is just what I use in mine and I’ve found it to be perfect.

Make sure that when you buy a water tank, if it's to be mounted on the exterior in the sun light, it's opaque and not translucent. Light will cause algae to grow and you wont have clean water. I'm only a couple min in on your video, so if you figured that out...

@ImaStarboy252
@ImaStarboy252 4 жыл бұрын
yea you can cut about %30-%50 of the cabinet width because off griding u really dont need all that counter top sticking out into the rig and use space for other purposes. it does provide good storage so under sink the widest thing u would probably have are the sink itself or water jugs so dont want to to be too short but definately can remove some of the width, and if u need more storage above the sink near the roof great things for rigs are the roof cabinets, shoved into the corner of the roof and wall and you can put a lot of shit in those while keeping it out of the way mostly

I think you guys should put bunkbeds against the back wall. Put the cabinets and fridge on the other side of the truck. Put a futon or some kind of sofa under the windows on the right side of the truck. I think they can mount a TV on the wall above the cabinets and counter. Doing all of this, they would have good entertainment, practicality, and sleeping space. They would be able to sleep 3-4 people.

That granite top will crack for sure but there are some great laminate tops that have granite looks. Also to fasten cabinets to walls and floor as they will bounce etc. Just giving my experience as have done a few conversations and racking in vans for tools and had a few disasters along the way. As soon as I saw you grab that new Graco truecoat DSP paint gun I knew it was going to work great. They're awesome! I know a guy that bought one to paint his house with and it worked great. If I ever have some painting to do I'm getting one of those. I'm not sure which size paint bags you had for it, but they have 32oz. and the larger 42oz. bags for larger jobs. I think they should make an attachment that hooks it to the 1-gallon paint cans with like a 10ft hose. lol. And yeah, that rain and damp air are what messed up the paint. That weather on top of spraying the paint on really thick doesn't mix very well. Y'all know, like painting a car, it's much better to spray a light coat first and then follow up with a second coat to fully cover it. that way It keeps it from running.

@@markusjones9625 that is assuming that gasoline is available at all times... I have helped a friend of mine with his VW Westfalia camper van make several modifications to his camper. So some of the things I think are necessary for off grid camping is a solar power system, diesel fuel heating system, A/C unit would be nice but is a luxury item and would require running a generator to use it. A generator is a definite item. Fresh water & gray water tanks are necessary along with the plumbing. A composting toilet or a Cassette toilet would be a nice convince. Propane tank for a propane cook top works out well. An outdoor kitchen is also a real nice addition. An electric awning on the side of the camper would also be real nice to get out of the sun or weather. The addition to some utility boxes (like ones mounted on tow trucks) out side of the vehicle will certainly be handy. These are some of the things I would want on my off grid camper. Good luck and I am looking forward to see how this build progresses along.

A plexiglass window would be cool for that middle removable panel. Also a good RV/Camper place would be the route I would go for water tanks, pumps, power inverters, batteries, etc. Might take some guess work out of some of it. I would make that outside connection the same as an RV spot plug so you could either run your generator or plug into a campsite at the lake or wherever!

Mount the water tank down next to the fuel tank, just lag it to protect it. Use caravan fittings and fixtures and run a 12v system for pumps , LED lights etc. That way you have can still run off batteries when you don't have mains voltage or a working generator. Don't forget you'll need a propane stove/oven rather than a normal household one. Good luck boys and stay safe!
