Star 3. For sew and flip pieces, I use this method. When I mark the line on the back of the square, I make a dot on the side that is not under the ruler. Because the line is corner to corner, the side after the line (and not under the ruler) is slightly smaller than the side under the ruler. This is the side with dot to put in the corner when sewing so that the slightly larger side will flip up and cover the area completely. Once flipped, you shouldn’t see any fabric from behind and after turning the piece over shouldn’t see any fabric showing from the other side either. Hope this helps you.

When I do my flying geese, I only so beside the line not on it. They’ll turn out short every time, but if you cut the block a little bit big, you can always trim it down and happy new year.
