@@EpicMickey777 True, although at least in this game he’s not as cowardly or wimpy as in the TV series or the original book. In the latter two, the Mutant kidnaps GG in order to lure Skipper (the protagonist) back into the Mutant’s lair; Skipper manages to rescue GG, and together they go after the Mutant, but after being tripped by the Mutant during a whirlwind attack (and, in the book, being faced with a leopard-Mutant), GG suddenly bails and leaves Skipper to fend for himself against the Mutant.

Oh my god, I also used to write shitty Goosebumps & Fear Street rip-offs as a kid. One was about a killer carrot who "murdered my family." R.L. Stine really hadn´t a good influence on me. :D Anyway, a reading of your own stories would be hilarious!
@JohnWolfe9 жыл бұрын
XRosellaX It's OK - I wrote one story that spawned three sequels, about a jack-o-lantern headed monster. It was very heavily inspired by Night of the Living Dummy - one night the dad brought home a pumpkin for Halloween, to turn into a jack-o-lantern. Then that night, the pumpkin came to life and tried to murder everyone. Only the main character could see the pumpkin for what it really was: evil! Basically exactly the same plot as Night of the Living Dummy, except instead of a dummy it was a fucking pumpkin. Another NotLD ripoff I made was almost exactly the same plot, except it was a Mr. Potato Head instead. I believe I titled it "The Evil Mr. Potato Head". I wish I were kidding. The most shameless one I wrote was called "Worms Everywhere!" that was a one-page version of Stine's "Go Eat Worms". I also wrote one about a shrunken head, one about vengeful lawn gnomes and one about a nocturnally locomotive scarecrow - all of which were based off popular Goosebumps books that you'll probably be able to identify just based on those descriptions. I should really start up a new series and read all of them, with interjected analysis. They are fascinatingly terrible.

Ok lets see if I can remember where all the costume pieces are from where I was a kid... 1. The shirt, or maybe it was the cape, can be found at the very beginning of the game, when you go into the hedge maze to escape Rootrot. You have to look around for it to find it, but it's there. If you go back later in the game I think it's gone, so if you want it you have to look around the first time. 2. You can find another piece if you use the key earlier on to go inside that room with the giant fan (on the same floor with the juice box and printer). If you go further into it than he did, you'll see there is a system of air vents you can go into and somewhere deep in their is the piece. Be careful because it's crawling with responing monsters. 3 and 4. In the event that you see two elevators open instead of just one, one of those elevators will take you to a secret floor, either a red sifi floor or a green dungeon floor. Somehow he managed to miss the floors each time in this video, but if you go in the elevator he didn't you should make it there. Both floors have a blaster you can use, but it disappears when you leave. The red floor has a piece hidden past a platform puzzle, and the green floor has a piece hidden behind a prison cell you have to use a sarcophagus to open. 5. The boots are in the hidden ice dungeon room, like you saw him get. 6. The mask (final piece if you get them all at the earliest point possible) is hidden around the frog level. I think that's where all the pieces are, note that I haven't played this game since I was a kid so I might have forgotten something.

Despite its flaws, this has a surprising amount of interactivity and immersion, and I like of few of its ideas. The game itself is an interesting blend of adventure gaming and first person shooting. It's kind of like a Goosebumps variation of Normality, with bits of other FPSs mixed in. The puzzle-based boss fights are an interesting feature. I think this game deserves a remake, probably in mod form. I've seen some modders turn obscure bad FPSs, like Exploding Lips and Operation Body Count, into some inspired modifications for Doom 2. The textures and sprites of this game are all good, and would work well in a mod. I'd like to see Attack of the Mutant expanded into a game which blends elements from Cybermage, Rise of the Triad, Hexen, and Chex Quest. I think the premise itself has a lot of potential.

My sister's boyfriend said I'd be too scared to play it (not because I was a girl, mind, that sister was a horror buff/collector) and that was such a cliche thing to say even back then that I had to sit down and beat the whole game one weekend. He was so impressed he got me Resident Evil 4 when it finally came out :3 If you're looking for nostalgia recs, my first "let's play" was watching that boyfriend and an older brother playing "Redneck Rampage" together. Necro-commenting, but I like running through John’s old stuff. Sometimes you get gems like this. I love Pinky’s music, voice, and general vibe, gotta say. I looked up that whole thing where he traps you in “slow sand.” Turns out his closing line, “Here’s mud in your eye,” is essentially a British-English version of “Bottoms up.” Makes sense given he was talking about a toast, I guess...but why a man with that accent would use British slang, I couldn’t tell ya.
