They generally don't in the second trimester unless it's true medical necessity. The only elective abortions that happen are before 4 months. I'm 67, and remember when UK laws regarding the legalisation for abortions were passed, in 1967. No more women going to back-street 'clinics', where the deed was performed in unhygienic rooms, with knitting needles or other sharp instruments; no more DIY attempts to abort by throwing themselves down the stairs; no more boiling hot baths while drinking gin, whisky, whatever she could afford; no more kindly doctors and nurses risking imprisonment for helping a woman deal with their situation, or conversely, less than kind doctors and nurses performing it for cash. All these things happened here, and no doubt in every country in the world. For the first time, women were allowed some control over their own bodies and decisions. Not entirely, sadly. A married woman still had to have the consent of her husband, and that went on for far too long. The law stated that two doctors had to agree to the procedure, which also was good for a woman who may not have wanted to abort but was under pressure - it can work both ways, of course. Young women were coming here from Ireland to have their abortions, because Church and State were hand-in-hand, with the priests having far too much influence in families' lives. I didn't know about Roe v Wade back then, only learning about it later in my life; to know that a country which prides itself on fairness and compassion still has politicians pushing for a return to the bad old days, along with all the other anti-women policies they tout, and an electorate who could change these dreadful states of affairs but don't, or won't, is very worrying from this side of the world. I think it's been a long time since we could say that we were two nations divided by one language - I think now that we're just two nations. I've been reading the comments on this thread, and am absolutely astounded by many of them, which is why I have responded now. In the video, mention was made about people over 64, and the response was along the lines of "they're old, it's all changing too quickly for them" - paraphrasing, not necessarily strictly accurate. Maybe voters over 64 remember a time before Roe. And perhaps they or someone they knew and loved had a backstreet abortion. Perhaps they knew or knew of someone who died from one. Perhaps they remember a time when people were fighting for civil rights, women's rights, and other battles that were fought and "won". Maybe they are tired of men making decisions for women, maybe that reminds them of their fathers, brothers, or husbands. There are many reasons why they would be infuriated by this BS.

If you put a chicken in the oven when is it cooked? When is it edible? When would eating the chicken not cause harm to the eater? If you think the chicken is cooked as soon as you put it into the oven you are wrong. If you think the chicken is edible when you put it into the oven then you might be technically right in that you could eat it, realistically you would not want to eat the chicken then as it would probably hurt you. It takes time to become edible. The chicken is cooked and ready to eat after a certain point and a qualified cook or chef or trained/experienced person would be able to work out when. I hope you get my point, if not you are probably a republican.

Jesus never mentioned abortion. There are 4 books dedicated to the life of Jesus, chock full of quotes. He never mentioned it once. And YES, it did exist back then. Jesus is supposed to the center of these people's beliefs (tho they don't act like it AT ALL), shouldn't it matter the most to them what Jesus says, or doesn't even deem important enough to mention, on the issue?
