Odisha Road Trip 2022
Day - 2 (20/12/2022): After visiting the dublagadi sea beach once again in the morning, we took breakfast at around 8:30 am and then started for our next destination, Gopalpur at around 9 am. Gopalpur is approximately 400 KMs away from Dublagadi. Google Map was showing approximate 9 hours for the entire journey. After hitting the highway we understood why it was showing 9 hours. Entire stretch up to Cuttack was full of diversions due to Road widening work. To avoid any further delay, we skipped having lunch on our journey and managed with dry foods (cakes, makhana, dry fruits, banana etc.) and stopped 3-4 times only for tea. After crossing Bhubaneswar, roads are just too good. By the time we reached near Chilika, it was dark outside and we missed the view of Chilika on our way. At around 7 pm we reached to our destination, OTDC Panthanivas, Gopalpur. We booked a Cottage for our two night stay at Gopalpur. The Cottages were beyond our expectations. There is a sitting cum dinning area on entering the Cottage equipped with a sofa set and dinning table. Crossing this area there's a huge bed room. Too big. A separate changing cum store room and equally big washroom. Well maintained. The stay was really very comfortable. As we were tired, we had our dinner at our Cottage only. Food and Service both were good. Had a sound sleep that night.
Day - 3 (21/12/2022): Next day morning we had our breakfast at the common dinning hall of panthaniwas. After breakfast, spent some time for photography and videography within the OTDC complex. Then we approached towards Sea Beach adjacent to Panthanivas. Approximate 2-3 minutes walk. The beach was the best one we have seen in recent past. It's not crowded like digha or puri. It's unexpectedly clean. Tourists were walking towards the Gopalpur main beach from there which is again another 5-7 minutes walk through the beach. After spending 2-3 hours on the beach we returned to our Cottage, had fresh bath and went for Lunch. Around 4:30 pm we visited the nearby Wooden Bridge. The place is really awesome. You can spend hours there without doing anything. Enjoyed a beautiful sunset from there and proceeded for Gopalpur main beach. Car parking is a big headache near main beach. We somehow managed and spent some time there. Tasted momo (very bad), gup chup (good) and chicken kabab (very good) before returning to the Panthanivas. Had dinner and went for sleep.
Important Information:
1) There are a few beach side low and mid budget hotels near Gopalpur main beach.
2) OTDC Panthanivas and Mayfair are little away from the main city center but having direct beach access.
3) Keep a day extra to cover Bhairavee Temple, Mahurikalua Temple, Taratarini Temple, Sonpur Beach, Tampara Lake, Rambha Lake, Balakumari Temple, Gopalpur Port etc.
4) You may also plan for a stay at OTDC Panthanivas, Rambha.
5) Wooden Bridge is just a walk away from OTDC Panthanivas, Gopalpur.
Next day morning we started for our next destination Daringbadi covering Taptapani and Jiranga.
