GoPro 12 vs Samsung S22 vs Sony FDR-X3000: Light Carry Vlog Options

So you want a pocketable Vlog option... Well you have your phone, likely an action camera... but don't want to take a larger 'actual' camera.... here's a comparison... Each has their pros and cons... Action cameras are great for motion, smartphones are great for things such as focus, zoom, etc... Anyways, I like to simply take a small action camera with my phone...When I am on vacations... maybe a 'better' camera...

I actually prefered the Sony X3000 footage more. It has a better feel and look.

Thanks for your comparison. I am still using and love my FDR-X3000. There was a gimbal for this tiny action cam a few years ago. However, the maker discontinued the product, and finding the gimbal for the X3000 is difficult. Recently, I found a nice combination of a DJI om 5 gimbal (for my iPhone) and a cell phone adapter for the gimbal to mount my X3000. It works perfectly for me.

I was thinking of doing the same thing that would be like the perfect touch to that camera... I absolutely love the picture it gives it just seems more real than my phone or GoPros

I've had a Sony X3000 for years now and I think it holds up really well considering how old it is! but one part where it's really lacking is the stabilization. I could really notice how much better the gopro did in your comparisons on that front even compared to the phone. I recently upgraded to a DJI Action 4 and I really like it so far, I think it's a fine upgrade from the x3000 in every way.

Yeah I have the GoPro it with that new Max lens mod and it's really good for wide and horizontal lock... It has its time and place. There's times when I just have my phone so I use that. But there's also times where I like the picture that the x3000 gives... It's good to have options

A possibility could be to disable the inbuilt image stabilisation and use and external gimbal. I've never tried it though.

@@delonk ya... it works, but you have to carry a gimbal... using the rear wide camera and turning the phone around s another option

Great video Regarding the x3000, have you had any issues with it? Is the 1080 quality in the GoPro decent? Have you tried DJI Action 4 yet? Thanks.

Only issues with the x3000 is you have to be careful moving it around quickly because it's not as stable as the other cameras.... The 1080 on the GoPro is actually not that good... I tried it once and not so hot. The DJI action 4 is likely the choice people make over the GoPro at this point. Never tried it though but action cameras are only good in good light. I also got a Max lens mod which is pretty cool which allows me to do the horizon lock in the wide lenses.

@@LedZippo99 Thanks for the detailed response. Yeah it seems like the Action 4 is the one to go for these days and soon the action 5 will be coming out so that will be interesting. If the GoPro is using the H265 for HD, then using H264 instead, might produce a higher quality Video. Cheers

The sony fdr-x3000 has 4k capability

Yes. But it's capped at 30 frames a second. I usually use it for vlogging so 1080p is fine.
