Despite your cons in the end, I'm still convinced this is for me. I'm a vlogger who wants depth of field, so this would be perfect for me. Great video! Thank you.

That’s why I always try and put my thoughts towards the end. Provide facts, some sample footage and then the cons/my opinion so that people like yourself can make their own informed decision. Cause at the end of the day my opinion is only just that and there are likely many people out there (yourself included) who might purchase and really like this. I’ll have to sub to see the results but also mention me on IG or X when you are able to post a vlog using it in case I miss it.

Could you record in 5.3k and then zoom in after the fact? Like in quik or some other software. Interested in getting a 13. My last gopro purchase was the hero 3.

I actual want it so that i can shoot cinimatic stuff with the manual focus

The lack of any markings on the lens to indicate focus distance as well as the small screen (so it’s hard to see what exactly is in focus) make it somewhat difficult to use for this, but it’s worth a shot. Would love to see your results!

The best way to use this macro lens mod is to set a day just for Macro shots, another day for standard shots then another one for ultra wide

Haha that’s true - though idk how many people film/take photos like that.

It is for sure waterproof.. !!! When attached to the HERO13 camera, the Macro Lens Mod is waterproof. It has a hydrophobic lens coating that repels water.

Literally copy and pasted from GoPro’s website (where it does say waterproof* twice but both times with an asterisk): “Macro Lens Mod is not intended for use under water” Now, while I guess something being waterproof* is better than not being waterproof* (and I do appreciate the hydrophobic coating), there is still the fact that putting the only *kinda* waterproof Macro Lens Mod on the at least IPX8 waterproof HERO 13 completely compromises the camera’s waterproof design. TL;DR - I can probably be a bit more tough than I have been with the MLM (it should survive use in the rain or maybe some snow activities), but it is in no ways “waterproof” in the sense way and average person would think and also less waterproof than most modern smartphones which are rated to 30min in up to 1m of water.

@ i did not tested it myself but i saw it in this video he filmed a lot underwater so i thought it was waterproof .. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpXNl5eAZ6mCqqMsi=9fl64Waa32AHun7j

Ahh ok. Thanks for the comment - I’ll have to check out that video and ask the creator about their experience with using it underwater and whether or not they knew it wasn’t technically waterproof.

Your wrong about waterproof. There are videos with people using it underwater. snorkeling. will not fit into dive housing but good for low water

Good, real world take on this lens. I'm still really curious to try it out though, lol.

Thanks! And yeah, that’s maybe the one thing I didn’t factor-in in my review: curiosity. I have a feeling a lot of GoPro 13 buyers will get one (or a couple) of the new HB-Series lenses - macro, ultrawide & anamorphic - simply out of curiosity. And there’s nothing really wrong with that, cause ultimately there’s far more expensive things out there to spend money on out of curiosity.
