The HERO 11 has GPS. It’s the 12 that does not. Idk if there was a typo or what but hopefully that helps clarify.

@DigitalTechReviewsTipsКүн бұрын
Thanks! Yes, HLG is actually an HDR codec so it naturally records in an extended dynamic range whereas DLOG-M is an SDR codec that must be pushed to HDR through editing.

i got the hero 12 but was dissapointed with no GPS. with the GPS it would have been a complete camera. Without it is just limited to static or indoors activities. It's a hassle to use your phone and a third party app to record gps data without a way to add it to your photos and videos with gopro software. Insta 360 allows you to just use your phone as gps. Now the 13 black has added the GPS again but has less compelling features to upgrade from the 11 or 12. Those lenses don't interest me so i got an Insta 360 x4 for completely new features which the GoPro lacks. So i am using the hero 10, 11 and 12 depending on the situation. So yes, cutting the GPS and hard shell case on the 12 was a bad move and they know it.

It is for sure waterproof.. !!! When attached to the HERO13 camera, the Macro Lens Mod is waterproof. It has a hydrophobic lens coating that repels water.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips2 күн бұрын
Literally copy and pasted from GoPro’s website (where it does say waterproof* twice but both times with an asterisk): “Macro Lens Mod is not intended for use under water” Now, while I guess something being waterproof* is better than not being waterproof* (and I do appreciate the hydrophobic coating), there is still the fact that putting the only *kinda* waterproof Macro Lens Mod on the at least IPX8 waterproof HERO 13 completely compromises the camera’s waterproof design. TL;DR - I can probably be a bit more tough than I have been with the MLM (it should survive use in the rain or maybe some snow activities), but it is in no ways “waterproof” in the sense way and average person would think and also less waterproof than most modern smartphones which are rated to 30min in up to 1m of water.

Excellent honest review, and it is clear that the person really understands drones. I have a similar opinion about the avata2, it gives emotions. But the mini 4 pro is a serious full-fledged and modern drone. You can take the avata as an addition to the classic drone

@DigitalTechReviewsTips5 күн бұрын
Thanks! And yeah, that’s maybe the one thing I didn’t factor-in in my review: curiosity. I have a feeling a lot of GoPro 13 buyers will get one (or a couple) of the new HB-Series lenses - macro, ultrawide & anamorphic - simply out of curiosity. And there’s nothing really wrong with that, cause ultimately there’s far more expensive things out there to spend money on out of curiosity.

Totally agree (and would have in an ideal world) but my original Zoom F2 mic is in a storage unit in Colorado currently so unfortunately that wasn’t possible. I also was more interested in just testing out the recorders themselves cause I truly was just making that original video as a test for myself to see if I could replace the F2 with the Mic 2.

I have the hero 13 black and can’t figure out how to do a Timelapse at night without using star trails. Is that doable to do a Timelapse of the stars without it leaving trails?
@DigitalTechReviewsTips8 күн бұрын
Yes totally! You want to swipe over to the “Timelapse” modes (the GoPro has 3 main modes: Timelapse, Video & Photo), then select “Night Lapse”. It sounds like you keep selecting “Star Trails” mode instead of Night Lapse.

Unfortunately I haven’t really had a chance to try out the Hover Air X1 Pro/Pro Max other than the quick flights I did at the launch event. The company has basically ghosted me since then which is a pretty clear indication that they are not too confident in their product currently and want to limit it being in the hands of reviewers. I’ll try reaching back out again to see if I can get them to send me one but otherwise I’d hold off.

Very informative video! I've had the mini 3 pro over 2 years and got the Avata 2 when it came out. I'm planning to sell the 3 and just got the mini 4 pro and use the Avata 2's controller and goggles. It would be less expensive than the 4's fly more combo
@DigitalTechReviewsTips10 күн бұрын
Thanks! Glad it was informative for you! I hope you're talking about using the Motion Controller (and not the FPV/Gaming style controller) with the Mini4 Pro cause currently the M4P only works with the RC2 controller (with no goggles) or motion controller with goggles.

I’ve been flying both for 6+ months. Since the Avata has the greater surface (prior aviation engineer) is why the wind profile has a great frontal resistance to free flow of air, which it why it’s not as good n the wind. When the winds are 15+ I just fly the Mini 4 Pro, really like them both for both worlds of flying. Have to try the Master Airscrew (4-blade) I got and yet to install to fly. I got the 4 Pro for the range on my site surveys, band the A-2 for real estate fly throughs and the tight obstacle (forest flying between trees). Still wanna try the goggles with the Mini 4 Pro…soon I hope! Two drones that have their separate “best at” by design.🇺🇸
@DigitalTechReviewsTips12 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment! It’s great to hear someone with actual qualifications back up my theory (albeit using the proper terminology) about the Avata 2 performing more poorly in the wind. And yeah, they’re both great in their own way - glad you got the opportunity to own both and figure out which works best for each situation you need.

Great video 😎. Why is it loosing satellite connection and what is that black round disc shape thing on the floor ?
@DigitalTechReviewsTips12 күн бұрын
Ok, so one, good eye. The black round disk shape thing on the floor inside is my lens cap. I put if and a case of Osmo Pocket 3 lens filters on the ground cause they were heavy objects that wouldn’t blow away and could help the Air 3S be more stable indoors by providing some tracking points for the downward sensors on what otherwise was a very white and non contrasty floor. As for why the drone was losing satellite connection: I’m assuming you’re talking about when it comes back and is hovering in the balcony area trying to go through the door? That’s most likely cause it’s near a massive building (and partially under part of it as there is actually ceiling above it) and that’s blocking most of its view of the sky - and thus connection to the satellites required for GPS lock.

@@DigitalTechReviewsTips I am new to vlogging,can just a Action 5 pro with osmo mobile SE gimbal match a pocket 3 to some extent, would the footage be manageably edited with iPhone 13? 🎉You did a brave work with Air3S, kudos!
@ognjenkoprivica60713 күн бұрын
This comparison seems quite unfair. First and foremost, the Mini 4 Pro's FPV capabilities are significantly overestimated. It lacks the power, speed, and throttle control needed for effective maneuvering, especially in stronger winds. These factors are crucial for a genuine FPV experience; it's not just about streaming the view to goggles. Additionally, the most premium segment of drone filming is exclusive to FPV. Whether you're chasing cars, boats, or extreme athletes, the Mini 4 Pro falls short, while the Avata 2 has the performance needed for professional applications-it’s far from being just a toy. I understand your preference for camera drones, but just as you detailed the Avata 2's limitations for traditional aerial shooting, it would be fair to address the Mini 4 Pro's limitations for FPV flying. FPV is no less nuanced than conventional camera drone operation; I’d argue it’s even more complex.
@DigitalTechReviewsTips12 күн бұрын
I 100% agree with you. I tried to point out my bias towards camera drones too so that people could be aware of it but appreciate you adding in your perspective here in the comments as someone who seems to have more experience and knowledge of the FPV world of drones. The only thing I would suggest is that most people who are deciding between the Avata 2 and Mini 4 Pro aren’t really necessarily looking to get into FPV. From talking to people who bought or owned the Avata 2, they mostly liked the “more immersive view of the goggles” (something I fundamentally disagree with but that’s a different story) and the motion controller. I agree that if I were to compare the Mini 4 Pro to the Avata 2 on the grounds of someone trying to fly full manual acro who had been an FPV pilot for 10 years - yeah the M4P isn’t even in the same league. To that same end though, any professional cinematographer would laugh at the Avata 2 being used as a camera drone. Ultimately I appreciate your comment with constructive criticism and feedback. When making these videos it’s basically inherent that I won’t be able to please everyone’s POV so I’m always grateful when those who don’t agree with me don’t just thumbs down and click away but take the time to eloquently explain their disagreement.

You were supposed to turn off the front sensors, my friend, so that the drone would pass
@DigitalTechReviewsTips9 күн бұрын
I did that to fly out manually but I don’t think the drone will do an RTH with the sensors off (or even if it will that’s just asking for trouble as it’s basically having the drone fly blind).
