This right here saved me 400$ in labour.... Brian! Thanks again man! You really are a legit life saver. The only difference is I did the front ones which are dual piston but the exact same mounting setup. Again Thank you so much Brian! The only thing I could add to this video is to include torque specs. The best I could find is 35 lbs/ft for caliper bolts, and 75-85 lbs/ft for the mounting bracket.

You can. It certainly doesn't hurt anything and I've been told it helps preserve the life of your master cylinder. The only reason I don't do it, is because it's messy and makes the job time significantly longer without any guaranteed benefit. Even on my own cars I typically won't do it. It speeds up the compression a little, but the clean up and extra steps add more time than they save. I also haven't found it to help the MC at all back when I used to do it all the time.

This isn't tiktok. My main concern is your being clear, accurate, and giving any tid bits of useful info. Which in my opinion, you done a pretty darn good job of fulfilling. So, if someone is concerned about what voice you use, perhaps they should stick to tiktok. Because it appears to me that they've missed the whole point of your video, which is to learn how to change your breaks, while showing a little of your character instead of being frustrated. Be a duck in the rain and just let that water roll right off your back and keep being you. That's when we all do our best.

Brian you saved me a caliper expense by letting us know that the piston inside turns in so we have to be careful not to compress straight in which would brake the caliper assembly. Thanks for this video. Dave.

On older cars it was something you just always did. On these newer cars that are super light and the rotors are already thin right out the gate- you turn them as needed.

Great video. Just came to say that they do still have little knobs on the back of dodge journey rear brake pads, that must be slotted into the piston. I just did mine on my 2016 Journey.

They can, but you have to go to the drum-in-hat concept and put a brake shoe system in the inside back of the rotor.

Sway bars prevent roll in turns. They don't really help the front and rear suspension to jive. You may need to stiffen the front dampening or add a shock to each side in the front. I had to do this to my Ram when I built the winch bumper for it.

Hey Brian, great tutorial. I have to say, I'm not crazy about the GoPro. Lots of movement, poor lighting and most important, no close ups. I like the fact that you've added more lighting, awesome. I applaud your efforts to respond favorably to your viewers suggestions, not many do. There are better cameras than the gopro setup for things like this. I've been recording myself work for a year with great results... only drawback is that the music in the shop gets recorded, which I then have to cover with noise, so that KZbin doesn't flag the audio

A quick clap of your hands with both cameras on will give you a good sync. Good video, I never used the proper tools just a c clamp and always pushed too hard and squirted the brake fluid under the hood :-) I enjoy your videos your a down to earth kinda guy. Keep em coming.

Great video tutorial, Brian! However, that PIP gopro cam is just visually bothersome. The stationary cam by itself is by far better. Leave the gopro to the high action stuff, like off-roading, racing, etc. Otherwise, good quality!

Very good video very descriptive I wish I would have washed it before I started because I needed that tool I had a cheap one that use the front brakes and it just didn't have enough strength and it didn't twist like it should. I ordered the kit from Amazon and it should be here Thursday a friend of mine said he has one so I'll probably borrow his and Thursday I'll have my own for future brakes. But thanks again very good video. I almost ordered brand new calipers because I couldn't push it in I thought it was seized up but I did not know that it needed a special tool I'll tell you what like I said I wish this video I would have watched because some of the other videos really don't explain why you need that and when you said because it's a different kind of brake system that's why and that was very good to explain that again thank you

The GoPro might be too wide of an angle since it was made for outdoor vista filming and not close ups. The first person view does give more information to doing a job though so that is nice.

Couple of quick observations, should have cleaned and lubed the caliper pins (always do this as prevents problems), replaced the rotors (at the minimum checked the rotors runout) also a quick spray of penetrating oil on the piston makes a world of difference, plus you didn't clean the caliper mounting bracket and noticed those were cheapo pads as no rattle clips. Otherwise nice video

I don't know if it has been mentioned but sometimes it is the original video file type that can cause those problems. you may just try some different formats. MP4, AVI, ect.. I am not an expert but have the same frustration.

e-brake must be incorporated, and "reduced so to speak", at pad replacement. Also, if hardware kits are recommended, take heed and replace as well.

Brian;any reason you would not slightly open bleeder to help reset and spread pistons? And GoPro have their limitations and take a whole lot of (quick) learning as the warranty is thirty days unless they've changed since I bought mine. Eventually,,,, They made me happy but it was a journey.

Brian First of all, I liked the go pro just wish it had a tighter shot as it seemed too panoramic to help a whole lot. second, need to tap into your resources/knowledge; if any; of kia sedonas. The wipers, cruise control, and heater controls have all stopped working randomly and i cant find a wire diagram to discover if it could be faulty bcm or common ground. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi man, got a 2016 journey. Wanted to diy change the pads. However I'm cautious a bit fearing i might turn the ABS on the dash. Will it likely turn it on after doing the job? And by the way, it necessary to open the break fluid cap once you push the piston in? Thanks

I have a 2010 journey and the brakes flat out suck. Apparently its an issue with the 1st gen journeys. Ive had to replace them 3 times in the 4 years ive owned it, I even put new calipers on the back and it still does it. It just eats pads and rotors.
