After having my GoPro keep giving me card errors and losing all my footage no matter what card I used, I switched to Insta 360 ace pro. The low light on it is incredible. GoPro can kick dirt!!

@@rudydoyleagreed! I still have my Hero 9 and haven’t felt any need to upgrade to anything else GoPro put out. I did get the Osmo Pocket 3 recently and love it! I think I’ll wait for the Action 5 to come out in the hopes of replacing my Hero 9. Hopefully, the Action 5 has a receiver built in for the DJI Mic 2 just like the Pocket 3!

It’s important to know whether the Media Mod will be necessary or if we can connect the audio directly to the camera. It would also be good if we could connect audio via Bluetooth to the camera using a wireless mic.

If we can get 5k60 and record more than 15 min without it melting that would be absolutely an accomplishment. 5k60 for 1hr should be a standard.

Is 5K just more linear horizontal resolution vs. 4K, or does it mean more vertical dimension (squarish)? I'm trying to figure out how to use it. For example, more vertical dimension would allow some vertical panning/postprocessing in 16:9.

With every new Gopro release I get excited, until I purchase and actually use the camera. Then the issues start. Bugs, overheating, freezing, disconnects from remote (and won't reconnect), lost footage, etc. SO after way over a decade (starting with Hero HD) I am done with Gopro! Making the switch to DJI. They might be a bit behind Gorpo (they will catch up), but there is no denying the reliability of their cameras. I know I will not lose footage. Thanks for the update. Enjoying your videos.

All gopro had to do was use a 1 inch sensor with fast readout. 8k but highly sharpened/NR and compressed to deal with noise and size is still crap. Rather have a high bitrate 4k that’s good.

Gopro is disappointing supporters since DJI Action 3 catch up , and Action 4 is a huge leap forward in the competition. In performance, battery life, stability, larger sensor, ease of use, accessories, price....... DJI is much much better.

If the lens mount was in the middle of the GoPro, like the RX0, then it might have a 1 inch sensor, but since it is off to the side, I don’t think it has a 1 inch sensor.

Guys have a GoPro 10 no problem at all. People complaining about microphone /over heating/ battery is not long enough. First of all this is an ACTION camera not a vlogging / professional setup. Yes it’s overheating if you don’t do ACTION. The “action” will give you enough airflow to not overheat. I tried in Egypt in August was 50degree Celsius put it on a quad bike /buggy no overheat at all. Complaining they need a bigger sensor 8k etc 😂 for what ? Are you a professional? If yes what are you doin here under a compact action cam video ? 😂 if you need all of these features get a Comodo Raptor 8k !!! only $35000 😂

The one with the grill has no front facing screen so for POV shots. For the second one, GoPro really need to up their game with audio and come out with a DJI style mic where the receiver is built into the camera otherwise DJI wins hands down.

Just need a GoPro which actually works. My studio has owned loads over the years. Most of them have failed at some point or another… Will never buy from GoPro again unless they dramatically improve their pathetic performance ‘glitches’ my hero 11 mini (internal) battery just cooked itself to death when it was actually off 😂

i for one bought upto the 11 and rolled back and stuck with my 7b after all the issues and worked with my remote also smaller. there is nothing my phone with 3 lenses can't do.... only more and don't have to remember bringing it with me. this one trick pony is at its EOL in my books

As an FPV pilot I was very excited for the new mini but if it's worse than the 13 then It's a no go for me. I'd love to take the smaller one for weight purposes but I need the best image quality.

I have been very pleased with my GoPro 8 Black. I know newer models have marginally better stabilization, but to me the cost was not worth it. I am always interested in what the 13 has to offer, so I look forward to knowing more about it. Thanks for this valuable heads-up!

Interesting stuff on the new GoPros , I have the 10 and 11 but I think DJI have overtaken them. For me the Bluetooth mic connection on the DJI does it for me. I wonder if GoPro will have that option or connecting mics ??

The primary lens itself doesn't seem any larger on this new Hero 13 Black. But there is still a chance GoPro bumped up the sensor size... I had read the larger sensor sizes suffer greatly with a further minimum focus range (IE: You aren't getting a sharp image of anything short of a full arms-length away). It seems to me that offering a macro lens option is the only feasible solution to this problem. So, does the macro lens we are seeing in these photos exist because the sensor is larger? If so, how bad will the close-focus be without it? My money is on a larger sensor.

A big red flag is how the accessories list calls the Max Lens Mod 2.0 the "Ultra Wide Lens Mod". I can't say for sure that these 'leaks' are false, but something about them just doesn't fully pass the smell test for me.

Hero 7 Black may go down as the best GoPro ever made. It was the last true action camera, in that it maintained a small form factor along with a removable lens (Hero8 blew that one), and had no "selfie" front screen, which came at the determent of size (Hero 9+). I'm still rocking the Hero 7, and it's gonna take a lot of convincing to replace it with something physically larger. I'm more interesting in this new, smaller HERO model. I'm just on the fence about the non-removable battery.

Nothing in the specs to get excited about, in my view. I don't see the point of a macro lens in an action cam. I'm quite happy with my GoPro 11 - excellent image quality and the Enduro batteries are robust and long-lasting even in very cold weather. And I've never had it freeze (unlike my previous GP8). A 1-inch sensor would be the only thing that might cause me to upgrade as it would produce better low-light performance but if that doesn't materialise, I won't be buying.

i think for gopro to get back to the bast action camera company they just most importantly have to fix some of the bugs and problems! Then a 1:1/3 or even a 1 inch sensor would make it sicnificantly better! It just needs way better low light capabilities a way better/ less noisy iso thats actually usable with no noise to at least iso 800 or 1600 and a better lens. The image just looks like a actioncamera image and it should look more than a real camera i think. Just use the pocket 3 pack it into an actioncamera and baaaam.

These cameras were not intended to video record your friend's wedding or your your kid's little league game. Try recording shorter duration clips and put them together in post. I've never had a GoPro overheat while grabbing quick action shots, or while using them for extended times in the water.

exactly, it is a purpose camera and its purpose is to be mounted in places/weather, that bigger cameras are not practical or impossible to mount for the durration of the action. There are very few cases where the action goes on for hours, that all needs to be captured in pov style or simillar

DJI haven't been catching up imo , they've taken over ? The fact that in 2024 and so far down the line, were even discussing overheating GoPro issues ( the reason I stopped using ) is pretty poor. That said I enjoyed your take as ever mate. I stand ready to see what comes from all the manufacturers this year but from what I've saw so far it's , meh

Go pro is a total junk, they care only about money rather than customer satisfaction, too expensive for the product you get, then you have to pay for everything else, wanna wireless mic? You have to buy so many GO PRO EXPENSIVES adapters, wanna this buy this and so on... , and this just the tip of the iceberg about go pro's drawbacks, like terrible recordings at low light environments and so on and so on... . while dji made everything so straightforward packed there in once and an affordable price, definitely the dji cameras the best, go pro R. The grill looks sometime like GoPro Session (that ended horribly.) Has that early access Xbox Series Fridge look. Now USB C cable is definitely a upgrade, I can use my Nintendo switch charger for this LMAOOOOOO. Now, my issues: Overheating is A BIG PROBLEM. Even since the early sessions to 10,11 and 12. The 13 has that canon look instead of the style of action camera GOPRO has. Portability is a another problem, what will be the housing for this camera? Will the camera have better mic quality? Cause the shitty quality has been my PROBLEM with GoPro for the longest amount of time, There better not be any overheating, there better be 6k video. Insta360 has been doing so much better and the quality feels so much better then my GoPro hero 10 tbh.

I have the 5, 7, 10. All of them hang randomly, or video freezes and audio is recorded. Battery life sucks. Has become too big. Mediamod is nothing but a cash grab than providing any real functionality. I have out my gopros on sale. Once sold, ill pick up the DJI Action 4 or 5 (whener that is released).

I hope the "other camera" alleged to be coming out near the same time is better than this abomination. I quit buying at the GoPro 11. It's become Apple style incrementalism at this point. No substantial improvements at all since MAYBE the 10. It SEEMS like they went backwards with this paper weight. I don't personally know anyone who records higher than 4k (or actually needs 4k). This offering is really sad.

I am not holding my breath. The Hero 9 to current models have been shit. Overheating, glitchy, and utterly unreliable. You cannot count on them to work properly when you need it, so why buy one? If you film underwater or snowboarding, that might keep it cool... DJI and Inst360 offer 95% of the image quality, but are light years ahead on reliability...
