8:24 The DJI Mic 2 transmitter will not record 32 bit float internal recording when paired to anything via bluetooth other than the Pocket 3 or Action 4. However, just disconnect the Mic 2 transmitter and use it as a standalone recorder. Same thing with the Noise Reduction. I could not get internal recording and/or Noise Reduction enabled when I connect my Mic 2 transmitter to my Insta360 X3, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung A50, Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, or gaming laptop

My favorite topic isn't low light, but overheating. Maybe my action shots aren't action enough to keep it cool. I'm still on my 11 figuring out what next, but to put that in perspective my previous camera is a GP7 which is still a great camera for daytime shots. Love the information and reviews.

Just bought Ace Pro a week ago. All I need from it is the Best Pan Focused Wide angle Night videos. For out focus / normal focal length videos will be handled by my Sony cameras and GM II lenses. I think I made the best choice for my purpose. Excellent Review! Waiting for Action 5 Pro and Ace Pro 2 soon from you!

If you go to the main DJI Mic 2 web page, at the bottom subscript 5 says: "5. When the DJI Mic 2 transmitter is connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth, internal recording is not available." I assume it's not just smartphones but any bluetooth connections that and that it's actually connecting to the Osmo Action 4 with something extra that lets it also do internal recording.

The most comprehensive comparison I've seen yet. And thanks for the overheating report on battery life. Overheating GoPros is a REAL PROBLEM I have here in Florida as I record at 4k 120fps constantly while fishing. Once temps are 85 and no wind or direct sun, they overheat. I have to take the battery out and take the door off then put a Small USB fan blowing into the battery compartment to prevent overheating. Fan makes noise so that is a problem. I've been tempted by the DJI and will problem pull the trigger on their new Action 5.

I wonder how they tested it. Did they just see the problem and decided it is good enough? Or perhaps their engineering samples had much better chips? I would laugh if a 10-20 cooling solution was the problem.

I don't get what you're saying when you say the Action 4 doesn't have a flexible aspect ratio setting. It can literally shoot 4:3 just like you can on the Ace Pro. This isn't like a cropped 16:9 image either where it would just cut off the sides to achieve 4:3. It literally uses the full sensor you can easily crop in landscape or vertical in post later like you can on the Ace Pro. If you don't believe me, then shoot a video in 16:9 and then shoot a video in 4:3 both on the widest settings. Tell me if the 16:9 is wider than the 4:3. It isn't, because the 4:3 uses the whole sensor. It's like shooting with open gate.

I think it comes down to visual preference. I personally prefer having 10-bit as it gives more range if colors and looks more natural than HDR.

I just used my Hero 8 in 1080P 30 for a ebike vlog 😂. Since I have the DJI Mic2 from the Pocket 3 I think I might upgrade to an Action 4 or 5 at some point. Your audio sounded better than most videos using the Hero 13 with that mic. They’re not reinventing the action camera these days.

Great review, I have been buying the uneven numbers of the Go Pro camera's since the 3+ Black , and the last one i bought was the 9 Black. Now I'm contemplating of buying the GoPro 13 but I feel annoyed with the fact that I have to replace all my batteries as the old ones won't fit anymore, on top of that GoPro tries to rope you in their monthly contracts etc just to squeeze another few dollars out their clients. This has opened the door for me to have a look in the DJI Osmo which makes sense as they also manufacture drones and on top of that they are an innovative company and not too concerned about their future as they have a variety of products unlike GoPro. But I do like the macro lens option on the GoPro 13

In my country, the action 5 pro sells for 425 usd and its predecessor sells for 355 usd (excluding extra battery pack and SD card). GoPro 12 sells for 420 usd (the dual battery pack version) and GoPro 13 with no extra battery sells for same 420 usd. Osmo action 4 adventure pack sells for 450 usd. Which camera and which package should I go with if I want to shoot videos longer than 120 minutes without heating and battery drain issue.

I have always used GoPros but was getting annoyed with some aspects of their operation. I bought an Ace Pro and the video quality was so awful that I returned it. Once I turned horizon levelling on the video just crawled with noise if the lighting was anything less than bright sun. It does have a low light shooting mode but this removes almost all manual control and presents you with an overly sharpened and over saturated mess. If only there was some way of getting quality audio with the GoPro that didn't compromise it being waterproof. So I'm waiting on the DJI action 5 as it is said to connect to the DJI wireless mics in quality. If the video quality is close to, or better than, my GoPros then I'll have one.

If DJI can sustain a Bluetooth connection to the Action 4 and record internally at the same time then it should be technically possible with other cameras like the GoPro unless DJI are deliberately limiting this feature to their own products. Hopefully either DJI or GoPro can fix this in new firmware or GoPro can improve the sound quality over Bluetooth.

Fair point. The nice thing is that they’re optional, and the macro lens lets you shoot closeup or farther away, but then you have to start paying attention to what’s in focus.

I have Hero 13 and Ace Pro on order coming in the mail this week because I can't decide on which to get. I really like the Ace Pro videos but a buddy of mine says Ace Pro loses over GoPro when uploading to Instagram for some reason, but does look good before uploading to IG. that's all I really use it for. Ace Pro looks easier to navigate through menu and settings too. Any advice from ya'll ? this will only be used for IG vids.

5.3k is very useful because it allows more room for cropping in without loss of resolution in post, and the size isn’t that much bigger than 4k. Many shoot in 5.3k.

Terrible product! I bought the GoPro expecting high performance, but what I got was nothing but disappointment. The camera overheats every 10 minutes, making it nearly impossible to record long videos or use it in warm conditions. It seems like the cooling system is completely ineffective. I do not recommend buying it, as it’s basically throwing money away. For the price, I expected something far more durable and reliable, but this is honestly the worst product I’ve ever used. Stay away from this trap!
