My wife and I did this last year. Our last day in Mürren was the first day it opened and the weather was perfect. Coolest thing we have ever done. Great video. Wished we had a gopro when we we did it. Thanks for sharing.

Do you remember their opening date?

I do, it was June 15th. It may vary a little I'm not sure. As I recall it has to do with nesting birds. Well worth it if you can work it in to your schedule.

not really, around May. Google it and should be found.

If you're going to be there for a few days, they have this thing called the "Holiday Pass". that gives you unlimited use of cable cars, trains and the funicular on the Schilthorn side of the valley. I believe they have a 4 day pass and a 6 day pass. A good value if your up and down a lot. Also, the Piz Gloria on top of the Shilthorn is awesome. It was the bad guys lair in a 007 movie. The Hotel Alpina where we stayed has fantastic views, as do most places there. schilthorn.ch/en/Angebot/Offers/Special_Offers/Holiday_Pass_(Murren_-_Schilthorn)

I don't know if it makes any difference, but I was told when I learnt how to do via ferrata that best way to setup the device is to place the carabiners clips opposite of each other. This way, if you hit a protruding rock with your device, and are unlucky enough that the carabiner opens, only one of them possibly opens.
@NaSeRg8 жыл бұрын
you are right, thats the most efficient way. I don´t do it always thought, depends how difficult is the via. The possibility that this can happen is very remote. Anyway the best way is that one as u said.
@philippstrohmeier56055 жыл бұрын
Thats right. Thats also the way i handle it. But nowerdays, because of the progress in climbing technique, the carabines got improved in safty so you dont need to do this anymore. But, as i said, i learned it that way and still continue doing so.

Hi there! LOVE your video. I was wondering if you can share how you mounted (accessories used) & how you angled the GoPro? I've been viewing a lot of GoPro footage for via Ferrata and I liked how yours was shot best. Thank you! Awesome awesome video! The waterfall at 3:36 😍😆

hi!! thanks a lot for your lovely comment. I used a headstrap which i mount over the helmet, then i have my gopro close to my forehead and not at the top of my head. I think you can see at 8:07. and then facing maybe a bit down. not much.

Do you think a guide is necessary for this via ferrata if I have no climbing experience? Or is common sense enough (don't unhook both carabiners at the same time)?
@NaSeRg7 жыл бұрын
I think you should go with someone who can give you a couple of tips if it is your first time with VF. You could do some typical mistakes which could make u sth wrong and fall. In that case, you would just hung.... and if you are lucky you would not crash with anything. Without a guide or friend you would survive, yes.
@TheArtObsessed6 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, getting a guide turns this $25 activity into over $100... and the guides charge per person not per group. So for two people that’s now over $200 for this. Just not worth the money.
@robertcarlson75996 жыл бұрын
I went first time, without a guide, 63 years old! And I was completely alone on the mountain, fog rolled in while starting the Nepal bridge! Scary stuff! Did just fine, though. Three hours to complete.

I have to say, safety cable system here is basically illusion. The way it is set up in places, it won't help you much if you lose grip or footing and fall. Not for beginners for sure!
@NaSeRg7 жыл бұрын
why? how can you say sth like that? Then nobody should take that risk and everybody does. Dont think Switzerland allowes what you are saying.

@@NaSeRg (long time ago since your question, but as I just saw the clip ...) I think he referred to the distance of anchor points when climbing down some of the ladders ... if you slip, you'd fall the full length of the ladder before your harness can catch you, if the video shows those correctly. Also you never should have two people on the same section (between two anchor points, like shown in the video ...
@NaSeRg5 жыл бұрын
@@bjoernich3660 Hi Bjoern! as i said, i dont think switzerland can do such a basic mistakes. And yes, you should not have two people on the same section, not even in different ones in a row. if someone is in the third part, i should be in the first and not in the second one, obviously not in the same one. You are right.
@CordiglieraDelleAnde4 жыл бұрын
Bravi comunque ragazzi!
