Very informative and well explained video. Tim have you tried to live stream on KZbin via streamlabs? (you can do this with less than 1000 subs). Also I've heard that you can actually take out the battery and plug a power cable into a power source so it won't over heat. I'm very interested to use this to live stream on KZbin and Twitch.TV. Hey Kev - the 1000 user limit only counts if you're streaming to YT from your Mobile - and the block is actually applied at the youtube end. The video is still going to youtube, they just don't turn it on. This was necessary because of the number of morons who started streaming street fights and other such events a few years ago with "disposable" accounts. As for twitch you should be able to hook in your RTMP info into the gopro app and stream from there. If you're looking to use the GP as a webcam on your desktop then you'll need to do this via the gopro's HDMI out - you can't web-cam it over USB. This will need the media mod for the GP8. you also need to be able to ingest the HDMI signal using something like the Blackmagic ATEM mini or elgato capture device.

I tried to use my GoPro for IRL Streaming with the GoPro app but couldnt, looks like the GoPro app needs to be connected to a wifi network. It would not allow me to use mobile data with unlimited data plan. The continue button gets grey out. The only work around I can see is to use a mobile hotspot like Netgear Nighthawk M2.

Hi! I have question, I got HERO7. Purchased it just for stream my dj set on facebook, youtube etc. I purchased Pro 3.5mm mic adapter to get sound straight from my DJ mixer. All works perfect, even customer service from GoPro said it will not working. But where the problem, maybe you know, after 1h of streaming on any platform (youtube, facebook, twitch) it disconnect and can't connect back to wi-fi about 10min. As reason of disconnecting is poor wi-fi connection what is bull#it, because wi-fi connection is 100%. It's just not allowing to stream longer then 1.3h. My set is never shorter then 2.5h. I found a lot of topics about that, this issue, is popular when we talking about PRO7. So, can you please tell me, if you stream with PRO8, can you do it longer then 1h, it's allow you to do it? Please don't be confuse about my kind on live streaming, even if I am going live on facebook normally, without dj set, it's disconnecting after 1h. Thanks anyway

you need to get to that 1000 before youtube will make the stream from a a mobile device live. you can stream to youtube and get a live connection etc, but the "waiting for" screen will appear if you're not at that sub count. And so my push to 1000!!

Can the Gopro 8 be able to do live streaming ? for example i buy the hero 8 and first time i want to do live stream on KZbin for people to watch when im travelling... Can it do it or only using a smart phone instead ? Unless i need some requirements... first find Free Wifi because i sure would never want to use my international data if im travelling overseas otherwise it cost heaps per data used. I want to travel overseas and then broadcast live on youtube butt same time i requiere audience to watch my stream live. Also not sure how the quality may look like vs a smart phone having everything in one phone device. So not sure how this will turn out. Worry about the using my own country internet data while been overseas is not cheap per MB. Megabyte. Remember quality is important how will one know the quality performance ? lets say i was to go to Los angeles and i want to live stream. But surely wont be using my australia internet data as i would end up been broke and unable to make important calls when im traveling alone.

I think the quick answer is: the gopro isn't a webcam. for game streaming I highly recommend the Blackmagic ATEM mini - that will do everything you want and outputs a composited program out as a webcam signal that you can stream to anywhere from your mac/pc

most often this is because you don't have 1000 subscribers yet which is needed for mobile streaming

have you had a play around streaming with the hero 8 via streamlabs? you'd then be able to stream to any service. an interesting video idea could be setting yourself up an rtmp server and streaming via that, i've done quite a bit of work with adobe media server as an rtmp server and you can do some pretty cool stuff with it and it really illustrates to people how the whole process of streaming actually works.

yeah thats easy enough - it's more the mobile streaming I was targeting with this. Thats where the 1000 user cap is on. I can stream easily of course via SL or the Blackmagic ATEM mini into youtube directly as that appears as a webcam.

It seems that when live streaming, my only option is the widest screen setting. I can record using tighter framing but when I livestream I have to have the GoPro so close it starts giving the fisheye effect. Even if I set the GoPro to the tighter settings before I set up live stream, it makes no difference, the live stream remains the widest framing. Can anyone give me any help here? I saw a forum post on this issue that gopro have taken it on board there may be a firmware update sometime addressing the FOV . Seems gopro only ever go half way in making a really good product. They seem to go backwards with every new product. At least the 8 streams in 1080.

Hey Tim ! How do set up for Wedding Party looking to show family in friends. Can you use Guess Facebook account and What info do you need from bride to input into your go pro

If you want to live stream a wedding I would do it as a scheduled KZbin event. Settings would have to be suited to the particular location and lighting - but definitely linear lens, and limit the gain to 800iso. If you can swing it, get yourself 2-4 cameras and an atem mini pro / mini pro iso so you can shoot from multiple angles. Most weddings consist of the bride, groom, and celebrant all facing each other so you just get peoples backs.

So I have a Hero 8 now and you have to get the GoPro Pro 3.5mm mic adapter. It hooks into the USB-C port and allows you to plug in a 3.5mm audio plug and also provides another USB-C port so you can keep it charged while the mic is plugged in. I am using the Rode Go wireless mic. It is a very nice mic and unlike a "wireless" lav, it's truly wireless on the transmitter side!

Also.. i need to buy the gopro hero 8. Now should i buy it lets say from the local store like JB hifi store or on amazon ? now ive never understand how amazon works. All i see there is like from america. So if i dont want to wait forever international and fee charges from buying a product from USA to Australia... should i then buy it from the store ? I mean i dont no which way works cheaper and obviously anything that comes international will take a good 2 months to get it finally delivered and caution on the expensive fees and international charges... As i witness i brought something on ebay and product coming from usa to australia and i was charge over 50 bucks or more on fees and so on. I believe its 500 bucks if buy in store for the hero 8 camera.. If the product looks cheaper online its more likely product not in Australia and expect to pay the hidden fees next and as well the lengthy wait time and on top of that the world wide covid19 delaying everything entirely. Sure i dont want to pay heaps. But what is your recommendation? ... P.S Amazon wont event tell me if the Gorpo 8 i see that looks cheaper doesnt say where its coming from? and doesnt say if its new or used.. and doesnt even say what method there is for delivery and what the fees and charges there are. So i have no idea how amazon works. Im from Australia.

yeah you can ... but why would you do that. Subs don't matter if they're not going to watch videos. The wrong subs can completely screw up your channel if they're not your a target audience becuase youtubes algorithms will be confused about who it should be promoting videos to. KZbin is also very very good at identifying these fake accounts and removing them. That happens all the time to the cry of "youtube is picking on my channel" ... The best thing to do is decide who your target audience is, make a great video that provides value to that audience, publish it and let youtube do the rest. Don't share it with your friends and family if they're not your audience, that only messes up the data youtube is trying to build to understand who to deliver the video to. Just publish, sit back and watch YT do it's thing.
