Yup, it’s a safety hazard. Having a weight 2” above your head can make the head move around more in a crash.

@@extrazero1593 You can google that exact question and get detailed answers but short version is it changes the way in which the shell has to deform, also might introduce extra torsion to the neck.

@@Christophe_L i obviously dont have any experience in the subject, but it sounds like it would only possibly effect the person who is wearing the gopro. so i dont understand why anybody else should have a say in the matter.

@@extrazero1593 Because it is a professional sport. We need to provide the athletes the best chance for them to survive a race. Pressures from sponsors and social media needs mean they are less able to refuse to wearing a helmet cam if it means damaging their career. Anyway, it's just a thought. I think it is banned in some championships.
