GoPro POV Mounts COMPARED for GoPro/DJI/Insta360 Action Cameras

I make POV driving videos sometimes and the hat clip is my favorite. Clip it to my hat upside down and put my GoPro on the bridge of my nose and it is actually eye level so it’s the closest to true POV angles. Only downsides are it’s not comfy and it blocks my view a little bit. But with the new release of the Insta360 Go 3 I’m tempted to get that so it’s not as big on my face.

I have the snorkel bite mouth and it is actually much more relaxing than the bite mouth. Great comparison video with the pros and cons of each. Never thought of the head POV and constant head movement.

For me headmount is the best for pike fishing! Tip for you david To quickly check whether the camera is on, I use a small makeup mirror

The bite mount is super convenient except for the heavy breathing noise which I feel is inevitable as you have your mouth open right infront of the camera. Any tips on how to reduce this?

I make fishing videos and have always used a head or cap mount. I watch a lot of other fishing videos and hate chest mounts. They miss so much when fishing with a chest mount. Head mount sees what the fisherman sees, way better.

The GO 3, makes all of these mounts silly easy. Their hat clip mount is for sure my favorite and going between that and their pendant mount is so fast. The pendant mount isn't action sport ready though, so would for sure still opt for the GoPro chest mount and then mount the GO 3 to that👍

Id love a upper chest mount. I feel it would give the perfect height all while being comfortable to wear. Standard chest mounts are too low for my liking.

I've seen some that are designed to be mounted to a backpack's sternum strap. That might give you the extra height you're looking for👍

Thanks for this video, and explaining the differences. Unfortunately as a larger framed quinquagenarian I found the chest mount to be uncomfortable to wear, so it is languishing in the drawer, un loved and unused. I have ordered one of the necklace style mounts in the hope that will give a similar POV. I tried one of those snorkel type of mouth mounts that you breath through but it dried my mouth and throat up. Plus I have a tendency to talk as I'm videoing. I am getting a head mount as well to try that out on a couple of things coming up, especially to tilt it down to focus more on what I'll be doing. I use the Ulanzi go-quick 2 system of mount connectors so I don't have to undo that screw every time I want to change settings, mounts or cameras - press a button and twist and I'm ready to change.

Heres what i dont understand. How do you know what the camera is seeing? How do you know its recording the angle you need or thats it recording at all without a view finder?

I ride mountain bikes and I rarely see a shot of the camera pointing strait down at the bike because it just doesn't look good for mountain biking. I know people like to see the trail and a bit of the bike not just the bike. the only Time I see a shot of the camera pointing down at the bike is when some one is doing tricks with their bikes but still I don see that kind of shot that often in mountain biking. by the way what are those gloves you are wearing wile riding your bike, they look like military gloves.

Chest mount isn’t the greatest for those of us who aren’t flat chested, found I preferred a neck mount set up instead. Really enjoyed this comparison tho.

I would think either helmet mount or chest mount. Chest mount might get tangled up in your rope system though, so helmet might be best!

Yeah, I've tried a few different shoulder strap mounts for my GoPros, but I always find the framing a little weird because it's off to the side. The only time I've had success with a shoulder strap mount is with something like the Insta360 X3. Because I can reframe in post, it feels a lot better of a fit for an off center mount

Personally I use the PD capture clip on my bag, and then the old Swivel Ball Mount GoPro sold at one point. It allows you to mount it, then swivel or aim the GoPro just that extra inch that you need to level the shot!

I have a Drift camera on my helmet for biking in the city and agree how much footage is unusable or ugly due to constant head movements for traffic. I try to focus on keeping head stable and moving my eyeballs for traffic on my sides. Reason for the Drift is because it is a dash cam and automatically deletes the oldest files when card fills up.

The bite mount is also my favorite, I am a surfer and use the normal mount not the snorkel one, but I can actually use it for long periods of time, I have surfed with it for (no joke) 6 hour my jaw was tired but not sore.

Excellent video. I'd have to say head mount when biking then I could just take it off easily with the DJI and make it function like a bite mount minus the bite. But honestly probably just stick with a bike mount. For every day, chest mount.

I do a lot of talking in my vlogs [motorcycle-based], so the bite mount is out, and my fairing blocks the forward view for the chest rig... so, head mount? Except I use a side helmet mount [half helmet] and then sync that up with a 2nd GoPro hanging off my handlebars :D I do like the idea of a POV mount - is there a good one I can strap around my wrist so I can still work the controls on a motorcycle, but have a GoPro mounted right on my hand so I can point at things and catch them in frame?

I used to helmet mount on my escooter, but that looking around for traffic thing kept ruining my vibe. Now I have a 360 wrist + palm strap mount (from telesin) things instead. It's so good on my skateboard on the non remote hand.

Never been too interested in POV mounts due to giving up downhill mountain biking years ago. However the bite Mount seems like the best for non action. Plus the wife does not like a massive head mount while on holiday :D. I'm also quite a sweaty person, so the head mount gets uncomfortable quickly. However you are so right with the chest mount, super restrictive for how much the rest of your body moves! although from your Insta360 go 3 video, the hat mount is the best. You can get hats with built in GoPro / Action cam mounts too, those I have been looking into and might invest in one!

Chest Mount the camera upside-down so you can lift up so it doesn't point down at the ground. Especially if you are riding mountain bikes. Mount the camera up under the peak of a full face helmet for a much better POV.

In terms of head/chest mount, the Insta360 go3 magnet/pendant wins. Gopro looks silly and it is old. I'm not gonna wear a strap with a bulky thing on my head while travelling. About time Gopro comes out with something more innovative.

Just try it out, you will find out what's the best for you... For my stuff I definitely prefer the head mount... Not straight forward but also not tilled down completely. Just a bit downwards is the sweet spot for me because you can see your hands and also some of the stuff in front. I would guess this head mount is your choice but just try out...
