The Akaso did an admirable job, though, yes, not as wide. I think you correct in stating the Akaso is not as great as the GoPro, but for many of us it would be good enough. Thank you for the review. I have had some interest of late in an action camera and have been looking at Akaso products.

yeah ill be testing a new camera from Akaso soon. The Akaso Brave 6 Plus. First look video coming out tomorrow, but waiting on a mic so that I can test while riding. But for most of us, the Akaso cameras are really quite good. I now how 5 of them! 😁

There is a microphone level setting hidden in the menu. It's under setup, general, control. I have it set to 70%, that reduces the clipping. Your results may vary depending on the wind noise in your helmet. So experiment a little with this setting. Don't place the microphone directly in front of your mouth, place it a little on the side, near your cheek. I also put a dead cat over the foam windmuf, you can buy them in packages of five on Amazon. I paid €85 for my Akaso V50 SE, it was on sale between Christmas and new year. Another €10 for the mic. So as a casual user, I'm pretty happy with this solution. But if you are serious about moto vlogging go the GoPro route.
@gregtoope3 жыл бұрын
The sound level is always down around 50% and ive tried all kinds of levels and my mic is always positioned off to the side of my mouth. Positioning is exactly the same as my gopro and insta360 mic. So the issue is either in the auto gain in the camera or the mic itself. But for a budget setup it works fairly well.

Hey I'd like to ask how he's getting no wind noise? I have the akaso v50x and I have the akaso mic in my helmet with added wind proofing and as soon as I get over 40mph all I hear is crackling and nothing else from wind. I hear absolutely nothing but bike and his voice in this video. He even had his visor up at one point!! Please someone explain. It's really killing my dream to motovlog...
@marcelvanbodegom Жыл бұрын
@Jenneweiner when you plug in the mic, the camera still uses the mic in the camera as well. Channel 1 is the mic in the camera, Channel 2 is the external mic that is placed in your helmet. In your favourite video editing program, set right and left sound both to channel 2. I'm using Davinci Resolve, and this can be done easily in the properties of the video clip.
@jenneweiner Жыл бұрын
@Marcel van Bodegom I did a test to see if it records both at the same time and mine does not. If I have the external mic plugged in when i start recording it will not capture any other sound even if I unplug the external mic. It will just stop recording audio until i plug the mic back in.

Very enjoyable video to watch! The Gopro footage was better and smoother but the Akaso was pretty good and audio wasn't much different. For the price of Akaso I'd say it's worth it but gopro is a bit expensive but if your looking for extra quality then gopro wins. I've got Akaso 7000 after your review and I must admit it's pretty good. Is Gopro 8 much different from 7? What difference is between the two? Slow driver I know some drivers are slow hehe
@gregtoope4 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! The GoPro 8 supposedly has a bit better stabilization, but not much. Which is why I decided to save the money and just get the 7. And agree for the money the Akaso is a great deal at its price. Ill be doing a video of a new camera from Akaso tomorrow. First look at the Akaso Brave 6 Plus. Motorcycle Vlog test with this camera to come later.

@gregtoope know vid is a bit older (great reviews btw). But with the v50pro, when recording with external mic, does sound record from the external mic only? Or records from both external and internal at same time?
@gregtoope2 жыл бұрын
as far as i can remember it actually records both to 2 separate tracks. So if you have an audio or good video editor you can split the channels and just use the internal or external. But its definitely some playing around to get it to work.

@gregtoope4 жыл бұрын
its the v50 Pro SE. but really no difference between either for these tests as the big difference between the two is that the SE has 4K60. Problem is that in that format there is no Image Stabilization. So I wouldn't use it anyways. Both have the same 4K30 with EIS. And image between the 2 is pretty much identical as well as the audio (with external mic plugged in).

On my Lamborghini I use a GoPro for the main angle, but use V50 Pro’s for B roll like exhaust shots from a bumper, or risky locations you may lose or damage a camera. When I leave the car parked I leave the Akaso rolling as a sentry just in case it gets stolen. They certainly have their place.
@BikeBoatandTravel4 жыл бұрын
Great comparison. I did not see much difference in the video quality between the two going down the road. The game changer for me to pop for the GoPro is the handlebar mounted remote. I have the V50pro and your summation of the remote is bang on..... pretty much useless for the rider as you don't know what is going on with the camera.
@gregtoope4 жыл бұрын
yeah, i just love the remote. I usually have the camera on my helmet, but if you had it mounted somewhere else on the bike the remote would be even more useful!

Hey i have some questions. Did you use the cameras mic or a external one? Also do i need to buy anything for the camera? extra i mean like a micro sd card if thats what its called.
@gregtoope4 жыл бұрын
you NEED to use an external mic, as the internal will just pick up wind noise. For the AKaso you need their mic, as no other mic will work. And it has to be the mic specific to the V50 pro. In regards to the GoPro you need to buy their USB-C to mic adapter and then buy a mic. And yes you need an micro SD card. No action cams have internal memory at this time. So you need a card. Dont cheap out on this. Get a good card so that you dont have audio video sync issues later.

You made the price comparison for these two cameras, but you didn't mention what you get with each camera on the initial purchase. The price gap is even greater!! You can't beat the value per dollar of the AKASO!! Looking forward to the Brave 6 Plus. "Worth It Or Not" has his video of the Brave 6 now, I will see if you both come to similar conclusions of this new AKASO camera.
@gregtoope4 жыл бұрын
Sure, but every other video i've done about the Akaso cameras talks about the added mounts. This video was long enough that I didn't feel it was necessary. Plus this was more in regards to a price versus performance for MotoVlogging. But I'll keep it in mind when I do the next MotoVlog camera comparison.
@codraven574 жыл бұрын
@@gregtoope For sure! I am curious as to the cost of all the accessories for the GoPro in comparison to what comes with the AKOSO? I understand that you only get the camera and everything else is extra. Do you have any idea of what that cost would be?
@gregtoope4 жыл бұрын
Bryan Gill buying GoPro brand accessories are pricey but on amazon there are some amazing third party accessory packages. Ranging from $20 to $50. I’ve actually bought them previously. I do find that the GoPro accessories are made with better plastic and have less chance of breaking. But hard to beat the price.
