I appreciate them not ruining the funeral ending with a joke. If this was a Disney or Nickelodeon cartoon they would have added a stupid punchline at the end ruining the somber tone. It’s nice when cartoons take themselves seriously.

Um what? Since when has Disney made a mockery of a funeral? Sure I can think of some shows like Star vs (which mocks everyone besides their Mary Sue and Gary Sue leads), but most Disney properties treat death seriously. And I can’t say the same for Nick, but I know that shows like ROTTMNT treated their deaths seriously, so I’m sure other shows did too.

I think i figured out Kinger's Deal. He gazed into the void so long he saw the future and now his seemingly random acts are actually predicting the trajectory of each episode before they happen but in meddling with it by preplanning things hes actually throwing the timeline off course. he threw a life preserver at pomni saying theyll need it but everyone but pomni ended up landing in the chocolate pit. in the previous episode he asked if zubel experienced a gameshow in the gloinks stomach trying to guage how the timeline was going to go. and note how sane he gets when he talks about past events like explaining how the food only gives them the sensation of eating or referencing how long it took ragatha to adjust

Wow, just... wow. I liked the first episode a lot, but this episode really sold me on this series, I was NOT expecting to be as personally invested in these characters and the world they're forced to inhabit as I ended up being! I could not be more excited for what comes next! With that in mind, I find talking about my own feelings on the episode not as interesting as talking about everyone else's reaction to this episode, and the Internet certainly seems to have some strong opinions on this episode... to the point where Gooseworx basically had to clarify things over on Twitter/X. Anyone expecting every episode to be heavy with lore and clues of the deeper story at play, get ready to be disappointed, because Gooseworx said that 95% of the series will be focused on the characters and their development, not so much the broader world at large. Also, Gooseworx clarified that episodes 2, 3, and 4 were basically locked in by the time the pilot premiered, meaning they didn't change anything "in response to" audiences reactions to the first episode. This was specifically in response to people who thought she "rewrote Jax" for this episode, and that is honestly rather odd. A lot of people who liked Jax in the first episode now hate him. It's like they can't comprehend that a character who all but states he's only interested in his own amusement in the Digital Circus and has been nothing but an asshole in that episode... continues to be an asshole only interested in his own amusement in this on. There are videos saying Jax "changed" in episode 2, but I see no inconsistency in his character here, he's just a jerk... Although I DID like that one moment where Ragatha, Zooble, and Kinger tell Pomni about the funeral they're going to hold for Kaufmo, and Jax has this incredible quick change in expressions before walking off, almost implying that he is genuinely mournful about Kaufmo being abstracted, but tries to push aside those feelings. I get the impression that he's trying to survive the Digital Circus by only thinking about himself and trying not to form attachments with anyone else, but that's just speculation. Oh, and Gummigoo, boy does the Internet love Gummigoo, I love Gummigoo, he's a great character! That said, the moment Pomni suggested he should come to the Digital Circus with them, I IMMEDIATELY knew where things were going. Having said that, while people are fine to hate Caine for blowing Gummigoo into confetti, I at least get where Caine's coming from... kind of. If the human characters brought back NPCs they befriended from all their adventures, it'll be difficult to keep track of which one is human and which one isn't, and given the thousand-yard stare Caine gives talking about it, he's probably scared of the possibility of deleting or destroying a human player he thought was an NPC. Of course, given how oblivious he is, he couldn't possible realize that Pomni formed a deep personal attachment to Gummigoo and didn't think about how this would affect Pomni, who's still getting used to things around here... Though it IS interesting that Pomni felt very "alone" and thus could relate to Gummigoo, since Ragatha is trying to be friendly with Pomni this whole time, yet Pomni reacts with coldness and indifference to her attempts to be friends (that whole "I'm not a child, you don't have to hype me up" line caught me off guard and made me LOL). I did like how Kinger comforts Ragatha over this, though, despite how unhinged he can be, he still has moments of even-handedness that I can only assume comes with being the oldest one there (he's supposed to be 48, everyone else is between 20 and 30). In a way, Kaufmo's funeral is exactly what Pomni needed to show that, as weird and off-putting as the other human characters are, they are all in this together, and they still care about each other, even when one of them abstracts (with the possible exception of Jax, but who knows with him). It help eases the pain of suddenly losing Gummigoo, making this a real... bittersweet ending. Was that an intentional candy joke? I'll never tell! Also, the Fudge is 100% supposed to be based on the Greedy from Raggedy Ann and Andy's Musical Adventure. Gooseworx also said to expect a lot of references to that movie (and also said the Fudge/Greedy reference felt obvious to her, but then again, how many people have even seen that movie besides her and me). Also also, Gummi Gator do Peppino taunts while being dragged by the truck.
