That Zetterberg and Howe bond is amazing. You can just tell how much they both mean to each other. RIP Gordie the entire NHL will miss you

The organization isn't parading him around. His family took him to the Wings game last night for his 88th birthday. Considering he had a stroke in 2014, he is doing well. I couldn't help but tear up watching. His son said he was so excited he couldn't sleep all night. And he loves to do new things and not sit around. He's MR. HOCKEY!! & we have the same birthday! :)

Watching this in 2022 and Derek Lalonde is in it at the 59 second mark. Crazy that he's the head coach now

I saw number 9, the great Gordie Howe, play at the old Detroit Olympia when I was about 14. Years later, I saw him play again at the Forum in LA against the Kings. I was fortunate enough to get his autograph on a program. During practice before the game, the Red Wings were on the ice. My wife went down to the boards with pen and program in hand and he skated over to her and said “Hi Blondie” in his friendly manner. He signed our program and I still have it. That had to be around 50 years ago. It was a thrill to watch him in action. He’ll never be forgotten.

Best ever to play the game! PERIOD... What a legend.

Of his era MAYBE. But to say best ever is something I have never understood why people use the phrase. If we're talking skill wise, every player today currently on an NHL roster is a better Hockey player than him. It's evolution, plain and simple. Guys today are in a completely different universe than guys from 50+ years ago. One of the best of his era, but leave it at that. Watch a game from the 50s, it's like watching a bad beer league team fumble around the ice. Nostalgia goggles are very blinding

Time is a nasty beast. I imagined him walking in there in his prime , they all would have been awestruck.

He came to our youth hockey banquet in the 1970's to speak. At the time I knew it was a pretty big thing, but it wasn't until years later when I realized just how big that was! Loved that man!

Gordie Howe is a legend, but I wish that the Red Wings organization would stop parading him around. The Winter Classic puck drop versus Toronto was sad to watch.

+Statts63 agreed. he shouldn't be out in that cold. i mean unless he's all there and just old and doesn't give a crap. but it looks like he doesn't know where he is half the time. hurts to watch.
