He's old and his voice is gone. But no one in the audience cared. He's still Gord. One of the world's greatest troubadours ever. Keep doing it as long as you can.

Having not heard him sing for many years, at first I was a little disappointed. Then I realized how thankful I was he is still performing and how lucky I am that I can see it on youtube ! Thanks for putting it up !

Gordon Lightfoot is one of the all time great singer songwriters of our time. He's still has the passion for performing even at 80! You can see the love for him in the audience! I hope I can still sing and play at 80. God Bless him!!!

Still does the "old school" mic'd 12 string guitar method. Greatest song writer and an awesome person.
@petercadieux7836 жыл бұрын
Sadly, I cannot hear his 12 string. Great songwriter!

The English people have their "barde" in William Shakespeare. We Canadians have our barde. He is Gordon Lightfoot. In my view, this is said with the highest level of respect. If you want a definition of the word, "prolific", between about 1969 and 1979 he published an album of 12 original songs every year. Truly, there is Gordon Lightfoot and then there is everyone else. His music lives everywhere, but especially on a warm summer day at your cottage on a lake or river--maybe with the song "Summerside of LIfe." God bless ya Gord. I will tell Mr. Lightfoot the same thing I told John Kay, l;ead singer of Steppenwolf when I had him in my cab. Thank you.

Whole band is fantastic. Gordon is a true songwriting legend. At his age , although a bit weaker,the magic in his voice is still in there. Love this guy.

Can we just take a minute to appreciate the audience, people from so many different generations coming together to appreciate good music from a great artist

Its so awesome to see this guy at this age performing. It is also sad to see him so aged and his voice is not the same. But he gives us all hope in life with his music and mentality. Love this guy.

I saw him at The Birchmere in Alexandria VA this past Monday night (6/18/18) he sounded so good, his voice MUCH better than in this video above, and he was so funny with corny/charming jokes between songs while telling fascinating stories from his life. Keep in mind Gordon is pushing 80 years old...so give him a break, besides, he still nails songs like "Carefree Highway" and remembers the endless lyrics to the epic "Edmund Fitzgerald" without missing a word!! I saw Roger Daltrey and John Fogerty just a couple of weeks before the Lightfoot concert and surprisingly my favorite show was Gordon...so sonic, soulful, great band, and well performed.Thank you Gordon, I tip my hat to you sir!

Holy. Fucking. Shit. This performance was stronger than when I saw him in Edmonton where I live back in October 2017. And this was TWO MONTHS AGO?! DUDE'S ALMOST 80, PEOPLE. Canadian royalty, simply put. Thankfully all those folks in the audience loved it, rightly so. 3

Gordon is older than Mick Jagger, Paul Mc Cartney, and a few other old guys from back in the day, and that is saying something. Gordon is four years older than Mick Jagger, and three years older than Paul Mc Cartney. WOW, these performers could easily be in nursing homes. The music keeps them going I guess. People don't want to let go of their heroes from the past. I know I don't want to let them go either.

He's 16 years older than me, but when I was playing, I played more of his songs than any other artist of this era. Gord, James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, CSNY, Nillson, Janis Ian, Harry Chapin, etc. What a treasure trove of music that anyone that didn't have their gifts to create music could still enjoy, learn and play for others.
