I think it’s awesome that in his song “The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald” he mentions the bell tolling at the Mariners Cathedral and so when he passed that same bell rolled for him as well!

As a young kid in the mid 1970’s, you couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing a Gordon Lightfoot song. What an amazing talent! Thanks for posting!

Yes, he was on the radio a lot. I would say to my Mom “ I think I will listen to Gordon Lightfoot “and I would turn the radio on. Nearly every time, I turned that dial, lo and behold, I would hear him singing. My Mom thought I must’ve been psychic. I would just smile and wink. He had so much airplay, that no wonder I was right so often. Lol. He was such an influential part of my growing up. How blessed I am to have seen him in concert many times. Rest in peace, sweet Gordon. 🙏 Thank you for all the joy you brought me. ❤️🇨🇦

I remember an interview where Gordon said Sundown was almost the sundown of his life, but somehow, he got through it and survived. Really intense relationships may be exciting initially, but they always go up in flames. He gave us all so many wonderful songs.

As an educator and a Michigander, I've taught my students many times about the beautiful freighter, the Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior. I would often play Gordon Lightfoot's tribute song and the kids would get emotional listening to it, and I would get emotional as well. 😢

Thanks for this upload, Scott. One song Lightfoot disavowed was "Black Day in July," about the race riots in Detroit, it's a great song but one he didn't want to perform anymore. Elvis Presley was a fan of Canadian music, covered Gordon Lightfoot, Anne Murray and apparently a fan of the group, BTO. Scott, I hope you will add the "Dionne Quintuplets" on your "to do list" for future videos, the two remaining sisters turn 90 in May, 2024 and your sensitivity is needed to tell their story.

Scott, you have no idea how much I've always loved Gordon Lightfoot and how much this video has touched my heart ❤😢 I think tomorrow I am going to the Post Office to apply for a passport so I can come out there and visit these places and especially his grave for myself. He has always been my favorite singer. For personal reasons, it's hard for me to listen to his music sometimes, but his songs are in my heart forever, and I will always love the man. I think I'm going to plan a trip out here next year. His music just touched and still touches my soul. Thank you for doing this video with your friends Brian and Kevin. Good luck to Brian on his new channel and tell your other friend to release his music catalog, the world's waiting for it. Take care, everyone. I'm going to stop at the nearest bar now and order me a drink 🍸 RIP Gordon. Your music will always be the most beautiful part of my memories ❤ 💐

Thank you Scott for another awesome video. I was a young kid when I first heard Gordon Lightfoot's song "If you could read my mind" and I have not heard it since but I always remembered some of the words of the song. So years later I looked it up online some of the lyrics from the song and I was so surprised that I found it and played it and it brought back so many memories of my early youth. It even made me misty eyed because my great grand-monther passed away around the time I first hear that song. It was such a soothing and relaxing song to listen to even at that early age I was very moved by his song. I am so glad I finally put a name and face to this wonderful masterpiece. Thanks again Scott for sharing.

I've been waiting for this one Scott!!! Fantastic job! I was born in 1970 and growing up my father was a Gordon Lightfoot super fan!!! That said my dad would also build miniature log cabins and sell them in craft shops all along the east coast. (we're from east Tennessee) anyway just a few years before my father's death he went to see Gord in concert and actually got to meet him! They became friends and my dad built him a cabin and sent it to him. I remember Gordon actually would call the house from time to time. Anyway that's my connection to Gordon. I never met him myself but I'm greatful he was such an awesome human and was kind to my father! Rest in peace both Gordon and Pop
