Despite age taking its toll on his vocal range, it is still an amazing performance. Haunting undertones in the music. Profound lyrics and emotionally charge. Thank you, Gordon. You will be missed.

just a wee bit of trivia- Gordo kept updating the words as more correct information about the wreck became available. he was at the dedication of the original bell when it was located. This song was very special to him. I think that strong intention is woven into its words and the beautiful music, anyone who hears it is affected by its solemn beauty. Anyone can sing it and should to honor those who gave their life on the Edmund Fitzgerald.

I grew up in Detroit and spent my summers in St. Claire , on the St Claire river. Many a day we watched the ships sailing past. We would be out on the dock, waving at the crewmen. The river is less than a mile wide, so the ships and their crew were pretty visible on the south bound ships. The Edmond Fitz Jerrold was one of those ships. We were all quite effected by the loss of the ship and crew. The song still evokes a lot of emotion even after all these years. Thank you Mr. Lightfoot for your wonderful memorial.

Losing Gordon Lightfoot, still hits hard and will for so etine to come. What can you say he was a songwriter and storyteller extrordinaire, his songs hit you full in the face pow and pulled at your heart strings. Nobody will ever be able to fill his shoes, I was listening to Gordon as a little bitty boy in the 70s. His music takes you back to simpler times and places long gone now except in your memories, I bawled as did millions when he passed away. I been listening to his music all day and night and I'm still crying this one truly hurts. Gordon you can walk that carefree highway into heaven now my brother, fly with the angels and put on a show for Jesus and the heavenly host. I know Jesus will be saying well done thou good and faithful servant enter now into thy rest that I have prepared for you. Love you Gordon RIP😢❤🌹
