I live on the Cowlitz off the Columbia by Longview. The Skagit river in north Washington state has a true Pink Salmon run,,and they taste 100 times better than steelhead or the old rough standby Chinook or King salmon which are predominant. Some of the best smoked salmon chip dip you will ever sample. Pink Salmon. Can fish with 2 poles in the Cowlitz and a few other rivers(bank fishing). Get both poles ringing at the same time,,and you have excitement like you have never seen. The Sandy river mouth into the Columbia is a very hot spot as well. All good fisheries. Deep fried finger sized salmon strips,,so good,, I can't keep ahead of the party.
