It's not that they're scared of HIM, but that they're scared of losing the chance to realize their dream. Depending on the season, either being hired as the head chef of a restaurant in a multi-million dollar establishment, with a ton of chefs working under them and a very high salary, or winning their own restaurant. Basically, you'd have to decide whether you'd rather have that, or protect your ego from damage in that specific moment of your long life, lol.

found a really neat interview where Ramsay mentions the bandanna chef with the beard that he seems to hate so much, this is what he had to say about him: "Ben is extraordinary and, again, tenacious, and very very flamboyant...Ben is like having a rhinoceros in the kitchen. He's energetic. Non-stop. A powerhouse. The fascinating thing is when you discipline a young chef, it's the response that tells you how long they've got in this industry and Ben's attitude was 100% professional." Ramsay can be a crazy person during a busy dinner service but he seems to really respect the guys who stick around awhile, even the one's who goes after the hardest!

*He isn't always this anger but when you come to Hell's kitchen claiming to be a professional Chef and you wanna work for Gordon in Hell's kitchen earning 1 and a half million dollars I think in a month but you can't even make a proper Beef Wellington or risotto it pisses him off because I guess he feels like "Don't come in here serving shit to my costumers because you're feeling lazy" Ramsay has also said when he was a young chef his mentors harshly gave him constructive criticism and it made him better and he's doing the same thing to them to make them better.*

Bear in mind, Ramsay himself said 90 percent of his anger on Hell's Kitchen is put on, and off camera he gives constructive feedback. He does actually get like that in professional kitchens. watch boiling point. the man is a taskmaster who expects excellence. He gets extra crazy in hells kitchen because they are (claim to be) chefs so he takes it as an insult to the industry and personally that they are so shit
