French chefs are monsters if they're running a high end kitchen. Perfection is demanded. Like you said, it's like the military. In order to have an effective squad, everyone needs to be at 100% at all times. One person slacking will get everyone killed.

A contestant did try to slap Gordon once, he effortlessly caught it like it was nothing while calmly saying to her "don't be stupid". Gordon is a black belt and is respected in the European martial arts community. As for why he treats them like that its actually a love tap compared to how Gordon was trained. There's stories of his teacher throwing red hot skillets at his staff, pouring pasta sauce all over a chef and physically slapping people. Apparently it was quite common for top chefs to treat their students like this as they strive for absolute perfection and only the people who can handle the abuse are deemed worthy enough to be in their kitchen, idk how it is now but that's how it was when Gordon was coming up and he's moved away from most of that stuff as in his own words it isn't right to treat people that way so instead he keeps it verbal but also acknowledges when they do something right so they know he's only yelling cause he knows they can do better

Well, two things. Everybody coming on the show knows Ramsey's attitude, and it is truly how he is, because they've shown him in his early days in his own actual kitchens (just as harsh). It was how he was treated by head chefs when he was coming up through the system. Outside of the kitchen, or with non-professional chefs, he's incredibly nice. Secondly, the guy is 6 ft 2, a former professional soccer player, and, I think, both boxes and has a black belt. So most would be unwise to step to him. Also, most of the contestants put up with his attitude because he does a lot of counseling and instruction both on and off the camera. So it's not all slamming them down. He is one of the most lauded chefs in the world. Bobby Flay is someone I love too, and I think it would totally depend on the dish. I think overall, Gordon probably has him. Just not on beef brisket barbecue, or something like that.:-) More Gordon, and happy 23rd! ;-)

His rage is 100% justified. He has a empire and they're ruining *his* reputation when they don't do their job properly. Think for a sec when you've been at a restaurant. Do you want cold chicken or summit burnt? Do you want to wait 2h for the food to get to you? No And his restaurant is famous and it has good ratings etc. You'll have sum expectations if you go there obviously. He's the face for it and they fuck it up for him when they don't deliver on their part. The kitchen truly is based on teamwork. He's very sweet and understanding with children and he's helps a lot but these moments are the final competition at the end of the training days. They are training one specific thing all day that they're gonna do when they open the restaurant later at night. Like come on...

It's not rage and it's not because he is afraid of having his reputation tarnishes. This is no different than basic training. One of those cooks is going to end up running one of his restaurants. He's putting them under stress to weed them out and find the person that can handle it.
@VerchielxKanda
@VerchielxKanda 2 жыл бұрын
The reason Gordon gets so angry at these people is that they're training to become headchef. They can't even handle the stress of a fast kitchen, so he gets angry. Hell, they've had a pizza and a salad come back to the kitchen. If they can't cook quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, then how are they gonna be headchef? I definitely recommend seeing him interacting with kids on a cooking show. It's such a difference, cause kids are still learning. They're allowed to make mistakes. These people here have claimed to be professionals. We're all quickly realizing they're not. Well, they COULD hit Gordon Ramsay, but he has a black belt in karate. I believe he did get into a scuffle with someone recently. Gordon had minor injuries, but they didn't say what happened to the other guy.
@beakersgarage383
@beakersgarage383 2 жыл бұрын
Not only are they in the running for becoming the Head Chef at high end restaurants, but most of these people hold titles such as Sous Chef or Executive Chef before coming on the show. He has high expectations because to reach that level you should already have the basics down. An Executive or Sous Chef should already know how to properly make a risotto or cook basic proteins or tourney vegetables or any of the myriad of other tasks they perform on the show before going into black jacket status.

Gordon actually talked about his time, training under some of the best chefs in the world when he was in his 20s. He said that one time, one of the underlings moved a boiling pot of pasta sauce to another burner, without asking the head chef (Gordon’s teacher) first, so the head chef got the pot of boiling pasta sauce, dumped it on the guy who moved it, and made him clean up the mess. With Gordon, understand that any show you see him on, that's him. Sometimes I think he might crank himself to 11 for tv, but I fully believe that that is how he is. On Kitchen Nightmares, those are professional cooks, and they often have egos and attitudes. So apart from his expectations that they shouldn't be fucking up as bad as they do, I think he also wants to humble them a bit. He chews into the ones who aren't as ego filled because that's how he was taught and how chefs at his level are. Michael Jordan was a known dickhead too, but he expected perfection. Gordon is that but for cooking.

Edit: i mean like when Gordon actually points out how much money has been thrown out cause it wasnt cooked properly and for them to then mouth back in any. Bad chefs loose money for restaurants. I feel like getting yelled at is warranted.

You guys are missing alot of shit gotta say . Gordan Ramsay uses psychologically damaging insults and they are are funny . He does this cause he trainned under Marco Pierre white who also does this but in my opinion Marco is more sinister with his insults . Maybe pause after each one so that you don't miss anything ?

I gotta say yo though in his defense, for people that never worked in a restaurant, especially fine dining, executive chefs are basically drill sergeants. They want perfection, not even just with other chefs but the entire staff. Trust me I’ve been there.

Gordon Ramsay came up in a culinairy world where this behaviour was normal , one of his own mentors even drove him to tears one time. Altho he does amp up the show for the US TV audiences because his UK shows are way less dramatic and actually have more hart. And he doenst just shout and abuse for the fun of it , his breakthru show Boiling Point has alot of staff getting the Ramsay treatment but the ones that endured ended up running his restaurants , with the money put up by Gordon himself. If you can show him you got what it takes , trust me the rewards will come.

I have eaten at a Gordon Ramsey restaurant in Vegas (chefs table even), and it was not just a dinner but a experience. My husband is native Louisiana proud and thus is used to great food, he was SHOCKED that night. I believe his words were “I thought I had eaten the most flavorful foods but this was different”, We left feeling Emotionally High about the experience, the food created a visceral impact, not just filling. You guys are fun to watch, I hope you can experience his food, BUT what you don’t realize….these chefs that Ramsey is “abusing” are all vying to run (head chef) one of Ramsay’s own multimillion dollar restaurants around the world. He puts his money where his mouth is and in the end it usually comes down to 3 or 4 tough, talented, thick skinned chefs.

If you want to become a 5 star restaurant chef, you have to ride the kitchen to keep up to the 5 star restaurant standards. These chefs then pick up these standards and become elite in the process and when they run their own kitchen put those same standards on their employees. Once you lose those standards you lose customers.

Gordon Ramsey on these type of TV shows with his fiery temper is an absolute world away from his persona out of the kitchen. He is a family man, he and his wife have five children together. A completely different character doing cookery shows with children too, he actually has a lovely nurturing manner with them. Will happily make a fool of himself too doing TikTok’s with his daughter etc. He had a horrendous childhood, growing up in a rough area of Glasgow, abused by his womanising, alcoholic father. Was witness to his Mum being beaten from a very young age. Gordon worked day and night to build a better life. Does not suffer fools gladly!!

Cooking was my life. And sometimes it saddens me that Gordon is only known for his persona. He is the only chef I've ever heard of that had 3 restaraunts all get Michelson stars at the same time. But to be honest.. back in the day this was how the head chef always talked to the sous and food preps. Especially the French chefs. We were pirates in the kitchen. And after service was done it wasn't uncommon to go out back and settle it with a fist fight.

Very few would get physical with him and not expect to get absolutely handled. He's an experienced martial artist, 6'2", a professional athlete and has the meanness of a thug. He has a harsh background growing up as well. I'm 6'0, 210 and muscular, and have 9 years of tae kwon do, 3 years of Muay Thai and a year so far of Shaolin kung fu in my background and I still probably wouldn't test him. Not worth it. I also happen to have a level of respect for him. He's accomplished more in his life than probably 99% of the working population.

Gordon has over a 100 restaurants and is very passionate about they quality of food he puts out because if people are paying for it he feels they should get their money’s worth and alot of those chefs come in trying to work for him be half assing their cooking so he goes off. It was sound mean but he’s passionate about his craft and doesn’t fancy anyone who doesn’t take it seriously. You can’t come asking someone for a job and be mediocre and get upset when their tear into your a$$

Funny how you didn't really know who Gordon Ramsay is😅. That man is EVERYWHERE!! Anyway: 58 restaurants (I have eaten at 1 them, phenominal!), 220 million net worth I believe roughly, 17 michelin stars, making him I believe the 2nd most decorated chef in the world. His flagship restaurant 'Ramsay' in London opened in 2009, got 3 michelin stars within its first year, and still holds those stars to date. His shows are great! Hell's kitchen is my favorite overall, but foodstars, masterchef, kitchen nightmares, hotel hell, uncharted,... All great

Hes only so harsh because these people wanna be headchefs too and seeing them crumble under stress shows they are not resilient enough. Watch how he talks to normal people outside the kitchen and especially kids on kids cooking show, he is actually a really nice person and father. Plus: He is probably the most known chef in Europe maybe even the world. Blackbelt, owner of over 50 restaurants. Real good role model
