1:18:09 - there are people that go and hit restaurants and complain just to get comped meals. They will say how everything is just terrible and they try to get other tables involved, but when there's a 3 star Michelin chef (at time of filming) and he says the food is good, it's pretty clear the complaining table is full of it. It's either they are just trying for free food or she really drank pond water before and could make the comparison!

Dear lord, the second episode is just the most depressing thing ever when you learn about the aftermath. Joe was having an affair with someone in the restaurant (not any of the women shown in the episode, in case you were curious), the restaurant closing 3 years after the episode filmed, and Joe ultimately killing himself by jumping off a bridge 8 days after going out of business.

I went to culinary school at Johnson & Wales, I've been working in the restaurant industry since I was 16, when a fridge is this bad you have to throw everything out not just the stuff that is bad and moldy. Mold isn't just about what it's on, but the spores are in the air, FDA regulations plus just general food inspection stuff. If a food inspector came into this kitchen they would be shut down immediately they would even be able to finish serving the customers they might have.

The French Episode is from Season 1, episode 10. A few months after Ramsay came through, he reverted back to his old menu after complaints. It closed in March 2010. He is now the owner of Custom Pie in Moorpark located at 6593 Collins Drive I think.

What happened to Campania? Business at the restaurant vastly improved after the restaurant was visited by Gordon. Joe won Chef Central's Bergen County Ultimate Chef Competition in 2008 and came Runner Up in 2009. Yelp reviews after filming were mostly positive with some menu items leading to criticism and some complaining of a long wait for a table or for food to arrive. In September 2010 Joe sold the restaurant to Campania Holding Corp. Eight days later Joe Cerniglia committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge into the Hudson river. It later emerged that he was in a relationship with Jessica, a pastry chef who worked at the restaurant and not the waitress of the same name featured in the episode. Campania closed in January 2011. Sage Restaurant, an American/Italian restaurant opened in it's place on 29th March 2012 with mostly positive Yelp reviews. Campania aired on November 28 2007, the episode was filmed in March 2007 and is Kitchen Nightmares season 1 episode 9.

Many years ago a restaurant in my neighborhood opened with the name "Diverso". The name alone ringed some alarm bells in my head. On the menu were known specialties from many countries in the world, like Mexican Burrito, Italian Pizza etc. Translated to me it was like: We dont know how to cook, so looked up famous dishes in a cooking book. One day some friends decided to try it out so we ordered tables for ca. 20 ppl. We asked "Can you guys handle 20 ppl at once?" to be sure and they said "No problem". Fast forward: Of course they couldnt handle us all. After 2 hours the last of us were served. And the food was often undercooked, raw, tasteless. My gut was right from the beginning. Fast forward 2. That place closed after one year. I always asked myself. What is going on, when a simple Burrito or Pizza needs 2 hrs to be made.
