When I was in grade school back in the late 1950s and early 60s, we attended a very rural/country school where the farm wives all around the school came in on their designated days and did all the cooking. My love of really good, yet utterly simple food began right there, with my first school lunch in the first grade. The best ever mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, real fish caught, cleaned and deboned by the husbands and sons of the women, then brought in to the school for them to cook---no heavy coatings of anything, just lightly seasoned trout, whitefish or bass, depending where the men went fishing that day. The vegetables always came from the farms the women lived on, brought in by them and their husbands the same day they were to be eaten. Baked goods---oh, boy, nothing I've ever had, or made myself since, can beat what those women knew how to do! Leftovers were given to the families with children whose parents were financially challenged, so there was never any wasted food. If any child or family of children couldn't pay for lunches, they got the same lunch everyone else did, but for free, and were not shamed or made fun of; it plain and simply was not tolerated in any form at all. It's really sad that the school systems have become so horridly shoddy in the last 60 years, and enormous amounts of money is spent on sports programs and other unnecessary "extracurricular activities" while so many children are in serious want of a decent meal at least once a day, and teachers are terribly underpaid.

My schools split into zones cause corona , which means If I go to the toilets I'm late for Form, and teacher screams, 1st period, music, halfway through I need to see, the good student I am (knowing Mr k won't let me go) waits till the end and asks him if I can go, and he says yes. Keep in mind that because of rogue, we don't move around classes, so I'm in room 57 all day except break n. Lunch. In walks my bitch of a math teacher, asks me where I'm going, I say bathroom, and ends like nah. This math teacher didn't let me go, at this time I'm literally dying of stomach pain now and after lesson and when break comes then I go. My stomach hurt so bad the whole day its unbelievable

Fizizy It's about budget. Private school kids eat better. In high school, we had a private caterer provide our lunches, but it cost $6 for a salad and $5 for chicken fingers and fries. Sandwiches were $4 but were prepackaged and slimey
