great teaching Mr. Bruce Gore, You tackled a profound theological subject in the first two verses, very touchy to new believers and rejected by nominal believers (rightly so, their salvation is their ego). I am humbled and comforted to be a vessel of mercy. Keep up your great work for YHWH's glory. Amen, Amen

The opinion that Peter's reference to "Babylon" was a reference to Jerusalem was very refreshing and insightful. Thanks!

Hooray! So nice to be back in class with you (even if from afar)! Thank you for putting the questions from your class on the screen. That is really helpful. You asked for an "easy" question, and your class is much too smart for that, so here's one from one of your more simple-minded students: WHY Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia?

"marriage to a difficult man" sounds like a fascinating book. I will try to get a copy for my wife's birthday, so she can see what she has been missing.

He specifies his addressees and it is not "us." His letter is NOT a "Catholic" epistle but clearly, specifically and explicitly only to the lost sheep of the Northern Kingdom aka "the Israel of God." This is an excellent example of Christian myopathy. Also I don't think the Romans gave the Jews greater privileges the the citizens. Rome was a Republic (ruled by laws), very sensitive to favoritism. I adore Gore and hope to get to shake his hand one day, but he's in this case tainted by what passes for Christian academia these days. He's imposing Christian tropes on the text.

I’m not seeing what you’re saying. Peter addressed this letter to the scattered elect in the area, and the content clearly implies foreknowledge of the gospel and the adoption thereof. How is it to the lost sheep of the northern kingdom only? What is more, were not all “Christians” considered to be Jews/ Israelites at the time, and in their eyes the whole of Israel was lost and now being found in the Lord Jesus? I respect that you may be seeing something I do not, so please correct me if I am mistaken in my understanding.

@@plumberstrummer8832 How is this catholic/to all? Are all exiles?: [1Pe 1:1-2 NIV] [1] Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God's elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, [2] who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance. He's very, very specific about to whom he is writing. Are you an exile in any of those locales?

@@WoundedEgo Christians were exiled from Jerusalem and Rome, as this was at the beginning of the first persecution under Nero (at least that’s my understanding)

I know you're a preterist but there's not too much time BEFORE THE RAPTURE. These letters are for Jews but great for sleeping. Take care
@GoreBruceКүн бұрын
I'll just make a minor correction. I am not a preterist, but I take a preterist view of Revelation and the Olivet Discourse. There is a difference. Unlike a 'full preterist,' I affirm that Jesus will return in the future, though I very much doubt that it will be in my lifetime. Thanks for the feedback.

First of all can l express my deep appreciation for your teaching Mr Gore but what do you make of the state of the world presently….l can only think that the Lord Jesus return must be eminent ,l would be unnerved to live in this world if l didn’t believe in His soon return.
