This is such a lovely pattern. Just wish that the designers would do more than square quilts. I and many others hate and have no use for square quilts. Donna I love your videos and learned so much from watching you. The best to all at Jordan Fabrics.

It's worth it to get the pattern just so I don't have to use the brainpower and save that for my own creations. That's what I appreciate about patterns- they are harder than you think to cover all the details and they are tried out several times. My friend works for CG and we regularly get to do mysteries that are packaged for sale later. There's so much testing! Just buy the pattern, designers work hard.

Ms.Donna, I'm making rose crossings for my best and dearest friend for Christmas. The only change is ill be using very light grey instead of white fabric. I believe she will love it! I love how easy you make quilting by the way you teach and explain all the steps. BTW, this is only my 7th quilt in my 2.5 years of quilting (sewing for 50years) so wish me luck! DD😊

Hi Donna, I love your quilts. I have turned an old shipping container into my sewing room.! It works well. I live in Botswana, Africa. Most of the quilting I see here showcases wildlife etc, mostly because of the types of fabric available. I salivate when seeing all your amazing choices of fabrics. I find your lovely American Quilts so refreshing. I am presently working on the Dear Jane quilt following along with Pooles pieces. I hope one day to win one of your fabulous quilts. Perhaps once the world starts again I may have an opportunity to visit your shop….I’m keeping my fingers X’d.

Ok so I want to know what magic blades you use that they would ever last several months. LOL I switch out every few weeks at least.
@nancyjackson-uy6lkАй бұрын
I use Famore blades. These are titanium and are from a guy in Gainesville GA. They are great and I find that they last a long time. Also, you can send the used blades back and he will sharpen them and return them to you. His cutter has ball bearings in them which is possibly what makes them cut so smoothly and last so long ! Just an opinion!

I don't throw away my used blades. I mark them as "used" on the plastic container, but they are still great for crafting! They are way too expensive to just throw away. 😊
@Sumogrits3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I use to throw my dull blades away too but a family member convinced me that most knife-like blades can be re-sharpened using a sharpening stone. I bought one years ago and the technique works well for me and my budget too. Before I remove the blade from the rotary cutter handle, I use a marker to draw an arrow counter clockwise on the blade (in a circular motion) to indicate the direction the blade turns as it cuts. The family member said this was important because if I sharpen the blade in the wrong direction, it may become more dull. (CAUTION: I wear a thick carpenter's glove when I sharpen such blades). I haven't tried this using the sharpener on the back of a can opener yet, it may be worth a try. Either way I agree, they can still be reused. Good speaking with you!!

One thing that I truly appreciate in your instruction, Donna, is your attention to accuracy and neatness. When I was learning how to sew back in junior high school, my instructor emphasized that pressing and accuracy were critical to producing a garment (or in this case, a quilt) that fit together property and that didn't look homemade. That has carried with me ever since, and that you employ this as a regular part of your quilting really shows in the finished product. Thank you for your clear, concise instructions and for the extras that you include, like changing the blade on the rotary cutter or choosing thread color for the quilting. Looking forward to your next video!

I always jump to see your video as soon as it appears. I so love what you do, and I always learn something. The process is so much fun, and your color choices are always wonderful - but what I love most about them is your color choices inspire me, they don't at all limit me. Sometimes when you see a quilt pattern done one way, I feel that is how it should be - but your presentations always give me the freedom to try a different way if I want. That is such a gift!

With all our family doing different crafts, I know you're not going to understand, I keep my old ones in a case in the kitchen window. We get together once a month and when we need to cut something besides fabric I have an older handle, we use the old blades. Even the kids we started early on the safety. I love it when a parent gets caught by one of the kids and gets yelled at about safety. Thank you for all I have learned watching your videos. Me being a math person I always have the younger one help me figure out how much fabric I will need, even thou I can read the pattern. We now have one who starts her first teaching contact as a math teacher.
