Honestly if you're going for standard edition I don't see why it's "expensive". Also personally speaking I'd rather have this concentrated cinema, than 50 hours of "added value" slop

If you are not looking for Warhammer or this type of experience specifically then it is. Full campaign is about 6~ hours, compares that to Black Myth which is a bit more expensive but almost tripple the length, or games with similar niche like Remnant 2 or Evil West still out there at cheaper price and more playtime.

@@petitblanc7343 maybe? I’d want more of campaign based game rather than the horde mode missions in Darktide. Different missions playing as different IG regiments. Some dedicated tank levels. Something made out of love for the guard the same way SM 1 and 2 show love for the Ultramarines

The whole point of guard is that they're normal humans with (Relatively) weak, mass-produced weapons, but have strength in numbers. A game where you play as a lone guardsman and slaughter thousands of tyranids wouldn't make any sense, let alone literally anything else.

The Space Marine 2 campaign gives me the same feeling I had playing the campaigns of Gears of War and Halo games. The gameplay is great and it feels like the 2 main questions asked during development were "Is this fun?" and What would be cool?" Genuinely just a blast to play. As a bonus the extra missions are the squad that went to do that other thing, while your squad did their thing during campaign.

I just love seeing everyone online playing the colours of their favourite chapters. I'm always curious to see what colours my teammates are sporting. I'm always sporting Dark Angels. I don't get enough opportunities to sport my Alpha Legion sadly though.

The only lore fault I've found is the standard space marine overpoweredness that shows up in basically every video game or other media that mentions them. They're about two feet taller than they're supposed to be and enemy forces are video game enemies, so are obviously going to be mulched through by the protagonists. The squad size is three instead of the ten that it should be, and they're presented as way stronger and more effective than they should be. Which is fine. It's a video game. I only bring it up because theres a decent chunk of the warhammer fandom that thinks this is what marines are actually like, when realistically they're just special forces. A marine is worth a couple of guardsmen, not several thousand guardsmen. But while I'd like to have a game where you rock up with ten marines and ambush everything to death like they do in lore, it makes for a far better game when they're depicted like this. And even my contrarian ass has to admit that its more fun this way.

i bought it for 45 bucks on day1 actually but ofc offsteam. Besides that ive seen the CEO of Saber and some Designers literally talking about the game in youtube comments like from the Baldy, its crazy to see such stuff today alone. SM2 brings back xbox 360 era vibes like gears of war. Such game we diddnt had for quite a while.

I may be biased because I like the Warhammer universe but I don't feel like it's that expensive compared to other games. Sure the campaign is short but it's super high quality and fun through and through, it has no filler like so many modern games and the PVE multi-player and Pvp are super good too, coupled with the fact that it's the good kind of liveservice that gets free content updates.

THe only lore issue with the game that is glaring is Gadriels constant complaints towards Titus early on. It would 100% not happen in the Ultramarines until later on ingame. They kinda remedied it towards the end, but it was a bit frustrating at the start for me personally. There are so many amazing details and the attention and love towards the WH40K universe in this game far, far outweighs what I note above, but it is a small gripe I had.

The game is not expensive. In my country, it's price equivalent to $20. Weird that people keep saying this game is expensive.

I get the impression theres a lot more content still to come, which may make that $60 price tag a little more worth it. It also seems like a game that doesnt contain a lot of FOMO so playing it later at a discount sounds fine. Besides, i still have to beat elden ring DLC and WoW soaks up most of my time so it might be a while before i can play SM2 regardless of price 😅 Game looks cool AF though.

My only issue with the game is that it is 40K. When talking about Warhammer I VASTLY prefer Warhammer Fantasy.
