Tbh, the PvE mode reminds me of ME3 Online when that was out. Sure, it could be repetitive, but it was still a ton of fun to play and a lot of ways to build your characters and try out new things. Main worry is if they can create it fast enough to keep their player base mostly intact. As a bit of a stop gap I hope they add they allow us to queue into the main campaign as like we do Operation missions using our custom builds, could be a way to put out some more missions relatively quickly without too much dev time. Narratively I think it's problematic, but I'd really like more of the game to play sooner rather than later.

Now that they know they’re sitting on a money pile, I think they’re gonna patch up online mode so it can provide true mass service…previous games are kind of tailored to the type that like mostly dead games that survive off the cash shop and find their teams on dischord. That does work great for the real modern audience - young men who are playing this game and grew up on the internet. The other traunch of players though is older, has limited time, and needs something that works like deep rock galactic, where I can drop in and contribute, even if I haven’t played 100 matches with you and am off voice. This is fixed by just letting people just open their game to multiplayer and let others drop in and replace the bots as they get matched to you.

Things that I personally want changed: - Better matchmaking and class exclusivity removed or fixed - Ability to change the color of helmet lenses and more cosmetics freedom - Being able to save full loadouts with talents, weapons, color scheme and armor and being able to swap said loadout throughout the Operations, at the appropriate terminals. - A crouch and a headlight/flashlight button for both immersion and gameplay - Assault class overhaul. The jumpack is nurtured in Operations and very cluncky to use, plus, the Assault class should have another armor point and be able to use a Power Sword. I would also give it the same treatment as Vanguard, where you can "lock" on a target and propell to it rapidly but instead of a hook, with a jump pack and instead of a kick, a heavy attack. Heck, I would remove the jump pack as a special ability altogether and make it so you fly high when you press and hold dodge, or side dodge rapidly with dodge + a directional input and give him a "feel no pain" activated ability instead, to be able to tank more. - Emotes wheel - a Space Hulk game mode / level, and I want it to be claustrophobic, dark and almost horror like. This is where the flashlight would come in handy. - More boss fights and more operations with different factions - the ability to unlock and have different special abilities. I want Gadriel's shout from the campaign for the Buleark or Veteran and Heavy could have a focus fire ability that increases damage and rate of fire but it makes you stationary, a shout that buffs allies in the area, Feel no Pain, ignoring damage taken for a short duration..so many other cool ideas could come out but these are mine.

I think the most likely factions we're going to get are Necrons (all the reasons you mentioned), Genestealer Cults (planet with prominent hive-world, and any planet that gets sieged by tyranids frequently has genestealer cults as a long-off precursor to the actual invasion force), and generic chaos undivided/non-tzeench chaos enemies. I love that you bring up t'au, because they're my favorite faction in 40k, but there's one other, major wrinkle that could be added to the t'au: the demiurg, who have since been revealed to be the leagues of votann, who are an off-shoot of humans that eventually turned into space dwarves without ever becoming quite as xenophobic, anti-technology, anti-AI, or anti-innovation. they're known to trade with the t'au, and under the name of "demiurg" have served as essentially off-screen auxiliary units to the t'au army. if the t'au were an enemy to space marines, the leagues showing up as an auxiliary under the name of "the demiurg", this would be a really point of interesting conflict between humanity and essentially a part of it's past which didn't fall nearly as far from grace.

I'd like there to be a lot of operations, but I'm not sure how quickly they can feasibly be produced. Deep Rock and Helldivers procedurally generate their environments, whereas in Space Marine 2, they're all bespoke environments and dressing. Now, they can reuse set dressing, but that runs into the issue of producing samey enviroments that aren't going to be as engaging. As a tangent, it's very amusing when you refer to the Tyranids as terminids.
@russian_knightАй бұрын
My main issue is how armor and melee works. You are encouraged to go melee but most of the weapons are not very good and take 6+ hits to stagger a tyranid warrior. Armor is restored by doing gun strikes and executions but for some reason the smallest enemies deal one full bar of damage to it when they hit you which gets you caught in a loop of parrying/gunstriking over and over. It isn't fun.

SM2 needs a major rebalancing sweep, some kind of overhaul to make the two highest difficulties in the Operation mode, fun. I beat the campaign on Veteran and I'm halfway through on Angel of Death, and frankly speaking it's piss easy compared to Substantial and Ruthless difficulties in Operation mode. I would say I'm a game of above-average skill, but I'm getting worse at fast-paced shooters the older I get. SM2, though, it's easy to nail headshots galore on every enemy type (including the shielded Tzeentch birds). Even then, the amount of punishment they can take is insane. The damage output they have is insane. The quantity of them is insane, and the player's ability to counterattack in most situations is minimal. You can see that they wanted to introduce the Parry and the PErfect Dodge - and the Gun Strike follow-up - as a way to expand on SM1's aggressive, execution focused gameplay. Unfortunately, you are *reliant* on the Parry and if you want to use the Gun Strike, you must fight your instinct to immediately take it. You have to first find an opening to perform it, because it has no invulnerability. This, in spite of it granting a single armour chunk. One Hormagaunt, the weakest enemy in the game save for Cultists, deal one and a half chunks-worth of damage to your armour. You get four chunks max. You fight upwards of thirty Gaunts at a time. I think anyone can see the problem with not having invulnerability on one of your most crucial and "devs say use this" abilities which is your only way to regain armour (beside executions). I like the game, but I think it's being held back by how overly-difficult the two highest modes are. Not because they're *too* hard, you *can* beat those settings. It's just not fun, and actively takes away from what the dev team seem to have developed systems for. EDIT: After thinking on it for a smidge longer, I think the quickest and "simplest" change they could make is to stop Contested Health (the Bloodborne hp recovery mechanic, basically) from decaying so fast. There are perks you can equip to restore more of it at a time, but it drains too quickly and is invalidated by taking too much additional damage. Say for example you take a full volley of fire from an enemy - that's about a third of your HP gone, but it is all Contested. However, being hit by a Tzeentch crow will then remove that Contested amount and give you a new, lesser-overall amount you can potentially recover. At the same time, it is draining at a rate of about 10% of hp per quarter-second. Either stop it decaying or just make executions and Gun Strikes restore hp and armour. HP is by far the scarcer resource, but Armour doesn't last long enough to even be worth "armour-gating", as people call it in other games. Also quickplay does give bonus XP.

The chances are, Titus becomes one of Calgars Victrix Guard. Not once in the Story do we use a Storm Shield, yet, we have the Bulwark (Bladeguard) Class in PvP/PvE Ops, so the tech for it is there. Before we get new factions though, we need more variety in what there is. Tyranids are SORELY lacking in their representation, and Chaos, even Tzeentch/Thousand Sons were a little lacking. We saw Screamers, but never fought them. Never saw Horrors, other Tzaangors, Spawn, flamers from Tzeentch, or pretty much any big monster from the nids (Also, killing a Hive Tyrant doesn't just cause a Hive Fleet to Nope out, so something needs to be done there)

Absolutely agree, I made it clear to both my good friends that just got this game the other day, once I had gotten through the campaign in early access myself that my only really big problem was that I just wanted more of it. The campaign is a bit small, the operations are limited to only 6 of them, and the pvp is super basic. It's a great foundation, it just needs more content, and some serious optimization on PC and numerous user-friendly system updates, like more options for game settings, togglable offline mode, friends lists, seamless multiplayer regarding classes, better worded instructions when joining sessions, whether to wait for people joining you or to board the thunderhawk in order for you to join others instead of waiting for the countdown to see which was correct. Stuff like that, just some edges that need smoothed over. Honestly I think horde mode alone would do wonders for replayability, can't wait for that and some more operations.

so first things first i agree with all you said... i would say in addition what they should do is rework some of the perks and lower ability cooldown on certain classes like the sniper and assault... an ability like the bulwark or heavy should stay on a higher cooldown but its kinda weird if 1 charge of my assault jetpack almost takes as long as a chance to fully heal the whole team or be imune to ranged enemys... imo that is abit off... another thing i want is way more life steal type of perks for certain mele centered classes like the bullwark and the assault since they often take much dmg due to the ranged enemys and that way they can work themselves back to full life... another thing is fix the melta health regen bug that is if you lose health it gets replaced with a white health chip that dissapears over time and if you do dmg you can heal that... the bug is that the melta does a gigantic amount of base dmg that gets lowered by resistance but the heal effect takes the base dmg value not the end dmg value so it hits on 1 enemy always the rally limit to heal and the bug comes as soon as you hit more then 1 target with a melta while you got atleast 1 hp in white health... 1 shot in a group of 2 or more enemys heals yout total health back to full since the rally buffer gets filled multiple times and applied to your hp bar over and over again... i ran missions with my friend on the highest difficulty doing 50k dmg on my own they just let them get kille the whole round and i beat literally every singe operation with the heavy with this exploit... and you cant prevent it except not using a whole weapon... and also give all bolter type weapons more dmg but dont nerf other weapons and instead implement more diff modes so you have more options but still more fun due to good feeling weapons... to round it all up im indeed sure that the roadmap isnt what they really implement i kind of got the feeling they prepared the roadmap in a dimention where if the game gets bought ok like 50k copys or something they will be able to get it still all done but they sold millions of copys allready so im positive in the chance they increase the amount of content coming for it and also the amount of dlc´s planned for it sry for the long comment tho and the abd grammar my englisch isnt the best

If Saber add Imurah level bosses, what they need to do is make them part of a Weekly mission, such as how Deeper Dives are done in Deep Rock Galactic. If they just add a boss map to the general pool it will just end up ignored if it's not "efficient" enough, or if some people find it too hard. If they do what Darktide did with their Twins boss level, and make it an etirely different queue, it will just end up as a dead map that no one plays once the novelty wore off as it is now. If however they make it something to do once a week or so, that rewards the player with something good (in Deep Rock Galactic it was one of the few ways to get Blank Matrix Cores after all) people will keep coming back to it, and not be ao burnt out on it so quickly, essentially making the big boss fights Weekly Raids.

My main hope tho is that they lower the season pass price or make it so we can unlock older outfits at a later date because as of right now 40$ feels a bit overpriced.

Late to the video but IMO it’s refreshing to see a game starting out right. Too many devs leap right into the live service model and let their scope get away from them, while SM2 delivers on a tight and focused experience that gets people in the door just on the fun alone. Depending on how good their player retention and other metrics are, they already have that aforementioned foundation to build off of, meaning the transition to a “natural” live service would be unobtrusive and frankly welcome. It feels like they started fun-first then made sure you could share that with friends without getting ahead of themselves. As long as that works, the rest can come naturally and without much friction
@venerablebrothergoriate5844Ай бұрын
One of the things I’m hoping for the most, (aside from additional Iron Hands drip and a chainaxe for tactical, assault and Vanguard) is a PvP mode built kinda like Attrition from Titanfall, with a larger map, and large numbers of ai allies for each team. Guardsmen and Cultists at the lowest rank, maybe a couple more, maybe the mode culminates in each time filling up the scoreboard until a ai Dreadnought gets called in on their side to thrash the enemy team. Like, basically calling in your own PvE boss enemy to back you up for the final phase. And the team without the dreadnought can get more XP if they manage to kill the dreadnought. A sort of “pyrrhic victory” condition if your dreadnought dies, and a “overwhelming victory” if it lives, a “Total Defeat” condition if you can’t kill the dreadnought, and a “bitter defeat” if you manage to kill it, but still a defeat because of the losses suffered.

sure its technically a game with long term support in cosmetic releases and qols but i believe the point being made here is that the largest live service games around use things like content rotation (maps, modes, season events etc) which rely HEAVILY on cosmetic purchases-- the fact that they've given away a large amount of future cosmetics on the season pass speaks volumes about their engagement strategy. Also they dont have a purchasable ingame currency, which is live service 101.

You know its good when you just want more content as an excuse to play it more. We just need a legit horde or war mode, maybe let us have more than 3 per squad in those types of missions. Add some fortification mechanics. The idea of holding back a horde is used throughout the campaign, lean into that more. Maybe some rogue-like stuff too like each wave you customize how the next one comes out, add some more randomization and variety. When you're playing this game properly - blasting waves until you run out of ammo and they close in, swimming through the horde cutting them up, countering and dodging to sustain and break through, jumping out, throwing a grenade and reloading. That all feels fantastic and is great fun and really rewarding when you go in and out of a big pack and take no damage.

I think another obvious thing would be new classes that would fit into the "meta" they are trying to make. For example Chaplains, they would be unique in terms of looks but they could be like a buff/debuff class since the whole thing about Chaplains are that they guide and mentor their fellow Space Marine. Another would be a Librarian, a mage class ich. Maybe just one melee weapon but they use spells instead. Kind of like jack of all trades. Apothecary would be another support/healer class, on harder difficulties (and boy are they hard) they would have a perfect place.

Hopefully there’s a big sale on it at some point Because I can’t justify 60 dollars on something with so little content. I think the biggest issue is that people will burn through SM2 content before more things drop, and the game will lose its momentum and player retention.

No, no, no. Expansions and DLCs are very welcome, but "live service" is a bane that needs to die. The concept might sound good on paper, yet it always devolves into something exploitative: More grind to slow player progression down. "Fear Of Missing Out" mechanics that force you to play more. Content sold separately to increase costs or in advance before reviews are out. Micro transactions that aren't "micro". Nerfs and difficulty increase, again to slow progression, rather than focusing on a good experience. In the end it always feels more like a second job rather than fun.
@herzfeld2Ай бұрын
this is why ive been sad about the dunking on Concord. Sure it didnt deserve success but such a massive failure will encourage publishers to focus on free to play releases which... Makes me sad. Along side giving better rewards for the less played missions, they should give additional rewards for playing lesser used classes. Which would encourage a better variety in teams. Ive been on a goo few missions, and aside from one npc filler, I’ve never seen anyone use the sniper class. So randomly offering rewards to players for using it would of course increase the amount of people doing so

@dud5606Ай бұрын
On one hand I agree with everything said, but on the other I feel like they would need to completely remake the leveling and loot system for this game to work more as a live service. As it is now, you can quickly level up your characters and weapons and there is quite literally zero incentive to keep going unless you just enjoy the gameplay so much. After a while all of the armory data shards, the coins and exp are useless to you. So those extra missions would have little replay value unless you enjoy them purely for the gameplay. In Darktide for example, the loot system is set up more like a Diablo-esque game (And it's a good place to take lessons from because ARPG's thrive on highly replayable content) where it's all up to the RNG if you get the common/rare/epic/legendary weapon. Those weapons also come with interesting modifiers other than DMG+/SPEED+ and there are actual unique builds you can create. I mean imagine how much more interesting and exciting the game would be if at any point you could come up to a crate in a level, open it and find "THE EMPERORS FLAMING SWORD" and be able to swing it at enemies, setting them ablaze. And maybe if you play as the assault you have a whole perk tree dedicated to dealing fire damage. Random loot this gives games like this a sense of constant progression and variety. SM2 lacks those right now. And with how anemic the roadmap looks for the next year it doesn't look like they're gearing up for making this a full blown live service.

After getting through the slog of 7+ hours to max out a single class's level, weapon masteries, and armor selection, I'm not doing it all over again for another class. I'm just not going to do it. Hell, you're not even going to get most players to even go that far. I know it's only the first week, but barely over 4% have maxed out a single class, and that's the easiest of the three to do since you can do it on any difficulty. You can get all of the armor choices on any as well, but you have to trudge through OVER THIRTY OPERATIONS to get them. For one class. That's thirty runs of the same operations that can last you 20 minutes at best if you manage to run to the ready zone before anyone else joins the lobby to slow you down. You couldn't PAY me to do all of that again with these 6 choices, and that's after I just went to easy mode and ran through the last ten operations to complete bulwark because I was already checked out and just wanted to get it over with. Good game, but once you beat every operation on every difficulty, why keep playing it? The buggy and unbalanced pvp? lol. lmao even.

Seems like a pretty cool game. I had zero interest in playing until I watched some reviews and videos like this. Wasn’t afraid of spoilers because I don’t care about Warhammer and didn’t play the first one. Hopefully this game is still going hard around holiday season and gets a sale lol. Too much backlog and Remnant 2 final dlc comes out at the end of the month. I’ve been holding out on playing that game again, until all dlcs were out. So this game looks like a great game to go into after I’m done with Remnant. Cheers!

I absolutely loved the first space marine, it got me into gaming as a whole. I quit SM2 after 2 missions, i dont understand how people would call this gameplay good enough to warrant more content? It barely iterated from the first game, which came out 13 years ago. Games like God of War, which are mostly cinematic story, have an actual combat system that is interesting enough for a 30 hour campaign. Blue Circle, Red Circle and Ranged units, have fun.
@deathtoraiden2080Ай бұрын
I'd argue the gameplay got worse because of the focus on parrying, with a parry system that has zero depth. I always said the first game felt weird with not having a parrying system but this game feels worse with this one. It made the fights a lot more static. You can't expect the same level of combat depth as a hack and slash game in these games. There is simply too much clutter on the screen for there to be an intricate combat system. The best they can do is not make the parry system such a joke execution wise because that is just not fulfilling. Feedback from melee also got worse.
@Verdiac97Ай бұрын
With alot of players quiting desting 2 focus has a massive opportunity to scoop them all up and give them a similar pve experience. Heres hoping
@Admiralkirk95Ай бұрын
The game is very fun but I do agree the game needsmore if it's gonna keep the audience. 3 PvP maps. Six operations. I wasn't expecting the campaign to some 'change my life' kind of experience it was exactly what I expected and wanted. It was epic, it felt big and it was fun. But beyond the campaign..... it needs a bit more.And to fix the server, queue times, and disconnect issues. And optimize it a bit more cause I do occasionally start chunking frames suddenly for about a second in large fights..... and improve the fights a bit I kinda feel like at times you suddenly just lose all your health and there nothing you could really do. I knoiw alot of times there is but I remember. Firefight starts. Units teleport in and before I can even do anything my health bar melts by about 80%..... like what was I suppose to do about five guys deciding to shoot me all at once on the first move? Now to be fair the roadmap is very promising. First section says Operations's' to plural. if my guess is right it's probably what the two teams were doing in the final section to turn the other obolisks..... but that means two more T-son operations. They have proven with the final operation that can and will do scenarios that weren't in the campaign at all though. New enemy is likely just new enemies for the factions, but, with what's at theend of the campaign could be a certain new faction(That's high hoping) Horde is quite a bit away too, which sucks. But atleast it is coming. I don't know if there's been any word on new classes but my bets are on CHaplain, cause they got a whole set already in the game with "Mr Chaplain", apothacary would be an easy obvious choice and could be a second Gravis armour type, same for aggressor(Late cameo makes sure there is sort of a rig for it) And I have my doubts on terminators. I see alot of people wanting it but I have my doubts on that one. Customization could be greatly expanded, it clearly will as time goes on as they've sdaid atleast three other legions will be getting full support and three will just be getting champion skins, would love to see Chaos get operations(Or horde) with full custumization but that's probably low on the priority list. I don't care about face customization cause I prefer helmets, but voice packs would be a good idea. Maybe we can get the guy who did the Dawn of war SM voices, that'd be cool. Once again probably on the lower end of things cause they need to record lines for operations and interactions between the voices. But all in all it's a good first step. They got to keep with it. I'm only ok with it cause it was a good start, and clearly a year long delay means if this is what we have day one, they were really for behind. But if the game is making me say "I want more" then it's doing something right.
