GORILLA BABY KIANGO, FIRST OFFSPRING FOR SILVERBACK BAOBAO

Oh my this boy is so cute, his hairdo is priceless. And I fell in love with his beautiful sparkly eyes. I hope you'll enjoy this video of 3months old Kiango!
It took me hours before I was able to see him, but my patience was rewarded in the end. In the Netherlands it was raining terribly the day I went, but luckily it cleared up in the afternoon and we got to see Kiango during dinner for the gorilla group.
BaoBao update:
Just before the season ended last year and the zoo closed (Apenheul - the zoo is always closed during winter) the zookeepers found out BaoBao has got heart problems. He is on medication and they changed the group. A teenager boy called Jabari isn't in the group anymore and is on a seperate island in the zoo with a female. He'll move soon to his dad Jambo and brothers in Al Ain Zoo.
BaoBao is doing okay, he was with Gyasi all the time and has seen his offspring. Though he is lots of the time inside and I wasn't able to see him. Hopefully we'll see him soon.

No problem. He is doing much better. A heart condition can't go away but they have good medication and they really are creating a less stressful environment for him. But oh I get you miss him, he's such a kind silverback! And I also miss Tayari and Iriki! This friday I've put some clips of Bao bao of last week in the video, if you like. This is so lovely! I can already see a little bit of Bao Bao in Kiangos eyes 🥰 I wonder if he’ll be as mischievous as his mother and sister or mellowed out and calm like his father ... either way it’ll be so exciting to watch him grow up 💕 Sorry to hear about Jabari’s eventual departure, wasn’t he best friends with Chama? I suppose they believe that he’s been stressing Bao Bao out 😅 Hopefully his brothers and father will be excited and ready to welcome him! Although I do worry about a castrated male in a group with four full grown silverbacks, Jabari is feisty and I hope he’ll be able to hold out on his own! Thank you so much for this lovely update 💕

We're very curious too. could be both ways. Tayari and Chama were best friends ;), Jabari gets along well with everybody but he's just a teenager who loves to bully and see how far he can go. Bao Bao doesn't get how he should react to make it stop so now he's out of the group. Wimbe is the leader at this moment in Al Ain Zoo , he used to be very kind and laid back, so I think Jabari will be fine but that's something we ofc don't know for sure. LOL your comment made me laugh, I'd wish but now she was moving around because the food was thrown into another direction ;). I was just very lucky she sat facing towards us. Because if there is no food she turns her back towards the public or goes further into the island where we can't see them. Great apes look like they were genetically modified animals that they didn't get all the way right because they almost look 100 percent cognizant of what they are doing but there us always those moments where they look so wild for a second...its creepy.
