Awww Kintaro looks so cold. I also feel bad because he is gonna be so lost when Gentaro is moved. I hate to see them split apart. They don't even know it. He's just gonna be gone one day. Gentaro loves Ms. Hina too, the way they play. Gentaro is also gonna miss his mom. I love this family💜

Every day, we see kintaro seeking warmth from the family. Little guy is cold! Not as much body fat as the others. Anyone know the reason why the zoo uses cold outdoor temps for some of the day??

@@archanaa3214 The person that filmed this video is not an employee of the zoo therefore he/she is unable to provide any explanation to your question....This person is probably just a patron of the zoo who comes by to film this family so we can also enjoy this beautiful gorilla family. From what I have learned from reading the description box of other KZbinrs that also video this family, the ground is supposed to be heated underneath and they have an electric heater that blows really hot air located behind the gated area that zookeepers stand when they interact with the family. The zookeepers have to let them outside until about 11AM so they can go into the inside enclosure to clean up the from the night before otherwise they will be laying around in their own feces and urine. As for moving Gentaro, I’m not sure they will be relocating him anytime soon due to the worldwide impact of the COVID 19. Gentaro I think just turned 9 and in the wild the children of the troop do not typically leave the family until they’re 10 years old or possibly older. I do understand he’s not that far away from turning 10 but with gorillas sharing such close DNA to humans they are very susceptible to catching human disease which includes Covid. I don’t think very many zoo’s are planning on separating any of their animals at this time. Hope this answered some questions!

Kintaro actually gets hand fed by Zookeepers on a daily basis. There are tons of videos of the zookeepers feeding him through the gate outside...You’ll be able to see the videos if you just search Kintaro being fed by zookeepers. Now that he’s older he likes to climb to the top of the enclosure where keepers place different food for them but mainly it’s Genki’s favorite grass & Momotaro & Gentaro favorite leaves. Kintaro likes to climb up there, swing around one handed and he’ll take a huge bite of the grass and then drops it to the ground & Genki gets to scoop it up on the ground & munches away. Once he’s done swinging around he’ll walk over to the gate where his zookeeper has a bowl of food which they use a spoon to feed him. The keepers have a soft mixture of food they feed him through the gates along with various fruits and veggies. They also throw bite size pieces of apples all around the outside enclosure that the entire family searches for everyday. The family only stays outside for a very short period of time during the cold months which they have to do in order for zookeepers to go safely inside to clean up the area everyday. The doors open for them to come back in by 11AM & they have a fresh clean indoor enclosure where there is new food placed all over for the family to continue eating. During the summer zookeepers give them frozen ice cubes made with organic juice with a piece of fruit frozen inside, also during the summer they make a huge fruit juice ice lolli block with frozen fruits in it and on their birthdays zookeepers put together a giant platter of food with each gorillas favorite foods. It’s really hard to get Genki’s favorite food year round which is the grass we always see her eat but it seems that they have managed to work it out bc she has that grass year round now. As for the cold...the ground is actually heated outside & they have a pretty advanced electric heater that is set up behind the outside gate where zookeepers stand when they interact with the family. Unfortunately it’s still not warm enough for them on super cold days but they’re only outside for a very short period of time. They’re outside no later then 11AM and that’s bc the zookeepers have to go into their enclosure to clean up the area from the night before & then they place more food around the inside enclosure bc gorillas spend a lot of their time foraging for food in the wild. They have to let them outside in order to clean otherwise the family would be laying around in their own feces and urine. Kintaro is also still nursing from Genki as well so he is getting the nutrients he needs from both mom and zookeepers. The entire family also gets the frozen treats, fruits, and veggies from the keepers as well. It’s not just Kintaro that gets it. If you watched previous videos of Kintaro he was much much smaller then he is now & part of that was bc a Genki refused to put him down so he could learn to use his muscles...Eventually she did put him down and he started to grow very quickly but prior to Genki doing that the keepers did notice how small he was and they intervened by using a huge syringe like object that was filled with milk & other food mixed into it and squirted it into his mouth until he was old enough to be fed with more soft solid foods that they fed him via spoon. Genki wasn’t too happy when they started doing this but she got over it bc they gave her treats the whole time too. I hope my response answered some of your questions. A lot of the information I shared is also located in the description portion of the videos as well.

With Covid projected to last another 7 years, no animals will be moving around. Kintaro is 2 years old. So Genki might have another baby in 2 years. Gentaro is 9. Males mature at 11-13. There will be some interesting changes in family dynamics coming up over the next 2 years.
