Most all kids like to work, usually parents discourage them because when they are young it is easier to do by yourself than to be patient and let them learn, all my seven kids loved to do what Dad and mom were doing, we took time when they were real young, like 2 years old and helped nurture a good work ethic and made it fun.

I was thinking about building something just like this. I bought this one instead and it works great. Only one thing I'd like to see done is make the mounting plate longer to get the upright bar a little farther away from the foot of the splitter. I really like how you can split a big round in half and rotate one half out of the way and let it just hang there while you work up one half at a time. It will work with a small battery but it will run down fairly quickly. I opted for a bigger 100 amp deep cycle battery and can run it all day for several days before it needs charging.

for what you pay for a gorillabac, you can buy a new log splitter which works vertically as well as horizontally and not have to carry and set up still one more piece of equipment

Cut the limb bulges off with chainsaw and it will save you mega time. Maybe a portable drill and drill a hole in all logs at the same time for screw start? I would like to see more on just how your lift works. Good video though,
