I agonised over which device to get, and the "use case" mindset is definitely the right approach. Thanks Kit and Voja for your useful content. Brandon, I'll have to check out yours now I've been introduced to you. I splashed out in the end. Supernote A6X for my personal life, Boox Note Air 2 for my work life (larger screen, ability to choose apps, and link to OneNote etc). But, I reach for the Supernote more often, even at work.

Great discussion. Also indicated to me that personal use and desires govern to a great degree which way you might go. For example, I do not want my E-Ink device to be an iPad. I want to be able to take either a quick or extensive note and be able to file it where I can find it. Perhaps others have other needs. Anyway, rather than debate, once you got to a discussion this was very helpful.

@@KitBetts-Masters I did enjoy it. Hopefully this is the first of a regular series. I’m currently using a Boox Nova Air 7.8 and enjoying it greatly. I have a supernote a6x on order because I “think” it will suit my uses for robust note taking and organizing better but I’m worried about losing the backlight function and having Android is very nice. Feels like keeping them both would be too luxurious but maybe they can live in harmony?

Magnificent video from three knowledgable and very cool colleagues! I recently purchased both the Supernote AX5 and the Remarkable 2. My focus is not so much a super organizational one, but really trying to do more journal writing and being able to save that into my computer files. I honestly don't know which one i'll keep. It will probably be the Supernote. But there is a quality to the Remarkable that i like as well. I'll have to decide soon on that Supernote, since it has a 30 day return policy compared to the 100 day Remarkable. Thank you all again!

@@KitBetts-Masters Thanks!! I wish there were a clear winner now that i've had these at the week mark. I'm probably being too picky abou the experience. I'd say that the Remarkable probably has the edge in the physical writing experience, and that may be the edge i need to decide. On the other hand, the Supernote seems like a brighter, sturdier and lighter device. I find myself wondering if a new Remarkable will be coming out this year, so maybe i keep the Supernote. I already can say that the most exciting thing is the refresh screen, cleanness of the screen, the boox integration with Drive and writing latency. With time I may discover new features, but for the time being I feel that nothing is more satisfying than the TAB ULTRA. Though i was kind of attracted to the Tab X for the big screen for lessons, math and my music score A4 format needs-, also the plastic feel to it, too much ghosting for the screen, though the existing refresh software button in the downbar helps, but i can say, in the end, that i am happy with my Tab Ultra choice and i will stick to the 10.3'' more portable format!🥰

I am not an impulsive buyer so I was contemplating on buying the Remarkable 2 since i saw the advert on KZbin. I have been looking for an ink tablet that will allow me to read lots of PDF files as well as listen to the audio version as well as taking note since my eyesight is my major weakness. Fortunately, your video made me to realized Remarkable 2 was not the only ink tablet in the market but it is also limited in what it can actually do. The paper feel is still not something that has been perfected and since i really suck on sketching but I do it once in a while when working, my best bet will be the Boox Air 2 plus. To me the price is reasonable, it has memory that can take my whole book library. I can listen to the audio version of the book while reading and at the same time taking notes, I can record my teacher and finally I can start writing my daily journals back. Im a late Gen X that keeps up with the trends, distractions is not a problem for me. Thank you guys for this lovely debate.

Question regarding the supernote. Was great to see the calendar functionality where you can view all seperate notes made that day (in the example shown, these notes were for different subjects in school). My question is, can you search for a specific page/note via date OR subject, ie can you double label? So, for example I understand i could search for all notes made on say 1st March and see notes for physics and separate notes for maths on that day, but could i also as an alternative search for all physics notes as a way to find hose notes? Hope my question makes sense!

Spot on about the Scribe. I bought a Scribe and Supernote at the same time to compare. The Scribe’s hardware is just great (though water resistance would be amazing). The build of the device, the low latency, the front light, the device responsiveness…all great. I have doubts on how quickly Amazon can get updates out with all their layoffs and seeing how long it took Remarkable. In the end, I kept the Supernote A6X. If Amazon had launched with more writing features, I probably would have kept it.

I liked this, and I hope that there is more of it, as far as some of the questions, colour, e-ink, unless you're an artist, animator or designer, it is a waste. Mainly these devices are for writing and sketching, anything else is a distraction, "colour"would be that. My only wish for gadgets like these is that they have some spelling app to help with the difficult words, as at the minute I carry a Franklin spellchecker with me, and if this was a tablet for everything to do with writing, then it should have that. Just a thought. As for the 3 amigos, well done.

I have been looking through reviews and comparisons and my struggle is finding one that matches my use case. I work in a Google-based work environment and am looking to replace my note taking. Specifically I want to be able to take notes, have an easy way to pull out tasks from those notes and keep those in a running list. I hope to be able to denote an action/task within the notes I’m taking but have the device know to put those in a to do list without switching to a different document. Any ideas on the best option for this? I am leaning towards the Supernote after these reviews simplify because it seems to blend functionality with support. I’m not trying to replace my computer or iPad but simply maximize my productivity and note taking.

At my home now I have the remarkable, the Supernote and tomorrow I will have the onyx air 2 plus. I know I will keep the a2+. Each one was missing stuff and I decided while I didn’t want to replace my tablet I needed more from remarkable and Supernote. I especially need a backlite. Where I site at home it’s kinda dark and it does me no good. And in the bedroom at night I have nothing without a backlite. So the a2+ is going to win.

I am having issues posting comments via my iPad this morning so I apologize if you see my comments more than once. Except for reading (Kindle) I am locked into the Apple ecosystem. Even with Kindle I sometimes read my books on a Kindle and sometimes using the app on my iPad. But here’s what I really want to do and where I need your (any of the 3 presenters today) assistance. I want a platform where I can download and read my Kindle books AND download PDF files from various sources. I then want to annotate all of my reading and take notes from everything I read. I know I do not want an iPad to do this but am leaning towards something comfortable, for both the reading and writing experience. It seems the Onyx or the Supernote would be the best fits for me. Suggestions? And if you suggest the Onyx, which model? Thanks for your feedback and WELL DONE on your conversation as well as your individual channels.

I have the tab ultra and now air 2 plus side by side. The speed is identical (same processor) and the tab ultra creaks slightly. Don't think it is as solid as the Note air when I have them side by side. So the extra money is for a slightly better pen and double the storage. Not sure it's worth it. A penny for your thoughts.

Hiya, I love it, in my side by side comparison I came to a similar conclusion. If the note air 2 is enough for you still, you don't need to upgrade. However I love the keyboard case, and I love the direction things are going.

I purchased the Boox Ultra after looking forward to and wanting to buy buy the Kindle Scribe; waiting in anticipation with wallet open waiting to buy the scribe only to wanting to boycott them for their insulting attempt with the latest Kindle Scribe...I'm still angry. I have a desktop and notebook computer and I just wanted an e-Book reader with a large screen for eBooks and extra features for something comfortable on the eyes. I can read all my books including a nice PDF doc where Kindle failed me (and those books not from the Kindle store), read the online news sites, have a nice notebook (and Google calendar & Keep widgets), web pages and email, on a nice e-ink screen. Being older with disposable income, price was not an issue. I use the Boox Ultra more than I expected to (in English and Japanese) and can do some serious work on the device if necessary. For my needs (huge screen, e-ink, read books and email), I am very happy with the Ultra thus far. Might be different for those taking real time notes in a lecture or on a budget.

Voja with the Supernote is doing it for me. I've signed up to their newsletter so i can get notified on the A5X2. The Boox is doing too much like a bad android device, The R2 is barebones but the sketching aspect of it is appealing. As a UI artist in the games industry I appreciate good UX and layout and simple is often best. (Less is more) The Supernote is a nice middle ground device with a long term transparent dev plan and improved drawing tools so it seems.

Hiya, you can write neatly on the Boox, but I think you are right that the pen tools just look a little more like normal pen and paper on the remarkable and the supernote.

I'm not aware of any licensing that binds specific version of Android to specific hardware such as SOC. Please correct me if I'm wrong though, I could be mistaken, I'm not an Android expert. Android OS is free (open source). There are licensed parts though containing apps such as Play Store, Gmail ... that must be licensed from Google. Still I'm not aware of these being tied to a specific hardware version. Is this licensing actually a thing?

Amazon team is surely going to get a lot to add to the scribe if they watch just this one video. The HW is the best and SW can be improved using over the air updates. I am very positive end of 2023 the scribe is going to be the top most recommended one. But but but when buying right now I would go for what is available right now. I just hope they dont overcharge for their folios and pens which come with it.

Thanks bud, yeah, there are a wealth of eink devices around and new ones coming each year. Lots of innovation, so I'd recommend keeping an eye on the market and going for one with a pen when the time is right for you!

the problem is when you have all the usecases and even more (that brings non e-ink options onto the table e.g. pen displays) and you can't buy multiple devices because it would be the same mess as using papers and it'd be too expensive. I think an imaginary "perfect" option would be a wireless pen display that uses e-ink and looks like reMarkable :D

I did get a Walnew brand case on Amazon, it is for the Kindle Scribe, but it works for the Boox Tab Ultra. Not a perfect fit but it does the job.

I think the Boox options are great for that, gives the best versatility between writing and drawing. However, remarkable, scribe and supernote would also be great options! Check out the newly announced Supernote A6X2, as they were always great for writing and they seem to have added a lot of drawing tools to their software!

I noticed that most of u guys are printing versus handwriting- can anyone say which has the best cursive handwriting recognition? Also, I normally write on paper and rest my wrist on the notebook I noticed you guys don’t do that- is that a problem with any of these? @@KitBetts-Masters the supernote is faster to navigate through my notes - and that was the main hiccup with Boox. It took 30s to visualize a 10 page note document on my Boox. I miss the OneDrive app that is on the Boox device but that is it. I managed to get the star recognition to work on my Boox for only two days and now it never works. That kind of issue is annoying… I also really appreciate the more transparent document structure in the super notes. Plus, the pen and the cover is slick. My Boox device came with a magnetic case that folds up for tablet mode, but it never was able to securely keep my pen in place because of the creases in the front cover. The cover drives me nuts. Also, the Books pen with a razor broke after three days. I am finding that the finger on the page eraser mode on the supernote is a little bit finicky. I’m not quite sure what I’m doing wrong.

Fed, Nadal and Djokovic on the same e-ink court. Unlike the Australian Open rest room breaks allowed. Agreed with Brandon that there isn't a perfect e-ink tablet out there. Love the Kindle Scribe despite the limitations simply because of the 300dpi, the great pen experience, and the autosync of notes with the Android phone. Also have the Boox Note Air 1 but the pen experience and 227dpi not as good as the Kindle Scribe.

This infomercial is too funny...No "debate" which has the best stylus or feels the most like writing on paper (and strangely enough no one else here has pointed that out), so can't really call it an infomercial. New title could be "how i got this product for free by talking about it on youtube for an hour". After watching this video, I'm convinced that there isn't a real market for these products which is why the retailers don't carry them, and to actually buy one would be a waste of money. Wow, this is an unkind comment. Not at all what I'm used to here on KZbin. Yeah, there is a real market for these devices. Remarkable is worth 1 Billion Dollars as a company now, and you can buy them in Curry's in the UK and other retailers around the world. Also, big companies like Amazon and Kobo have released their versions. I'll be bringing some discussion around some evidence I found of the benefits of reflective epaper screens. I’m currently looking at the Boox Tab Ultra because it has a lot of storage space. I am a long time dungeons and dragons DM so the ability to store a lot of books and maps is a must. I also like to read .epub books so again I’m looking at storage space. I am a iPad user and Mac user so I believe that the Boox will work well for me.

How did that go for you? I have concerns that tabletop books at 160-500 pages and colour would be unfeasible, especially if you're wantibg to annotate/note take
