On 17th of April-13, Kibabu, Western Lowland Gorilla, silverback mated one of his ladies.His little son was very interested. Kibabu will be King for some time yet, by the look of him.

Apes don't smack their own offspring. Only humans do. Male apes from other families will threaten offspring from families they're entering, but they don't use pain as a form of punishment. They don't even have a concept of punishment; i.e, the exacting of revenge against another for a perceived wrong. They'll fight when they feel as though they've been threatened, but that's it. They don't attack out of anger, hatred, or spite, especially in regards to their own offspring; only humans do.
