The Phantom is happiness. 2-D is singing about how much he misses the good times, 6black is remorseful of the happiness he lost, but continues to keep the memories with him. Elton John is singing about the acceptance that the happy times he experienced were fleeting, but he has hope that he'll get those times back. Meanwhile, instead of using song or healthy conversation through music, Murdoc is trying to catch and imprison the Phantom. He's never truly been happy, and the only way he believes that happiness can be attained, is by capturing it and holding it for as long as possible. (Thats my take on it anyway)

Kinda feels bad that they had to ruin what was an otherwise alright song with 6lack trying to mumble-pop-rap. I get the Gorillaz are all about staying with the times and always having that "meth head energy" going on with their songs but once the Gorillaz stopped doing the actual singing and started just releasing music videos for other artists, I kind of dropped off from caring as much. If I wanted to listen to a mumble rap, I'd go get some mumble rap. What I came here for was for Gorillaz, and I'm getting less and less of that every time they upload a video.
