I can really relate to this song on a personal level; I'm not sure if this is the same thing and if the example will work, but do you remember when Damon said that The Now Now was coming from the perspective of 2D? We live in a world where everything that we know about society has diminished itself into this weird psuedo-isolation nonsense, people keep dying due to criminals and school/work is becoming digitalized. I used to think that me not being my usual self was a result of coincidental depression, but no, it's a result of every capitalist sypnase that I used to worship being stripped from my chest.
