Gorr didn't just kill gods of war or death. He killed gods of food, wine, knowledge, peace, kindness. Basically he didn't just purge the wicked gods, he slaughtered the ones who actively cared about the mortals that worshipped them but weren't strong enough to help them as much as they wanted.

Yep I feel the same way. They gonna just make him a normal villain without even giving him his true weapon and just be some "fancy sword" with the same name not truly what it actually is. That's kind of his entire shtick. It goes back to Norse mythology, where he created a weapon from the only material that could wound the invulnerable god Baldr - which he gave to his brother who currently had fun hurling things at Baldr, while he was showing off. Baldr's "accidental" death then inadvertently set Ragnarök in motion.

Pretty much how polytheistic religions work. If a god has no role, they're forgotten about over time, because no one ever thinks about and prays to them. That means that gods related to aspects you encounter more commonly (and affect you enough to pray about) are more numerous than for example gods of rock. The Romans had half a dozen minor gods of the hearth, and about the same for agriculture, because those were relevant for their immediate survival. A very religious culture locked in constant wars would absolutely have a god they pray to so their bombs work correctly, or to protect them from the enemies' bombs.

You got to give credit to Christian Bale for his work that's Gorr the God butcher it's been 10 years it's been entertaining people as The dark Knight and now he's making heads roll in the MCU I mean one of the biggest issues with this movie was they didn't take away his nose because they were afraid to look he would look like Voldemort from the Harry Potter movies I'm like we already got problems with mustache gate with Justice League and they're still concerned over a character having a nose or not stupid if you ask me.
