The map is actually accurate to what the map in Super Metroid is. They recreated the whole map basically. That's a lovely detail in this one.

Along with the three endings, the thing I like most about this video is the fact that, despite bosses barely slowing down the protagonist in these "Something About" videos, TerminalMontage made sure to have Ridley put up a fight against Samus. Mad respect to the Cunning God of Death there. Edit: Yeah, not only is saving the animals a choice you make in Super Metroid, it's actually a key plot point in Metroid Fusion. Edit2: The "Save" option is where the continuity between Something videos finally comes into play; Samus lands on the same planet Slippy Toad supposedly "died" on in "Something About Star Fox 64" and the both work together to get off the planet and reach the Great Fox. Also, in reference to how Falco was all "NICE!" when hearing Slippy died, Falco is upset that Slippy is alive at the end of this video.

The "save animals" thing is also something that SGDQ set as a donation goal, where people could vote for or against saving the animals in the run.

15:19 that's slippy from star fox 64 the crash landing is a reference to star fox 64 where slippy crashes on that planet and fox has to save slippy from that monster.

So from what I understand of Metroid Speedrunning, during Charity Events, they will allow donations towards saving or killing the animals and which ever option has the most money donated towards it before the Super Metroid Speedrun is nearly over, wins, and the runner has to either ignore or save the animals. From what little I understand about Metroid Lore, the Save the Animals Ending is the canon one in the main games (and also Terminal Montage Lore unless Parallel Universes comes up to make the other endings canon), as in Metroid Fusion, they appear on one of the facilities that got invaded by the X-Parasite, being the only ones uninfected. Some have theorized that these animals actually carried the X-Parasite leading to all the disaster that unfolds in Metroid Fusion. Though in Terminal Montage they just have the X-Parasite infect the animals.

Just a bit more info - SAVE THE ANIMALS or KILL THE ANIMALS (aka SAVE THE FRAMES) bid war is part of specifically AGDQ speedrunning event where Super Metroid was usually ran last in schedule hence making it is the hottest bid war during event. (not so much in last years but more primarily due to Pandemic making them to do some changes to event) - The theory about animals carrying and starting to spread X-parasite in Metroid Fusion is clearly came from those who have little to NO IDEA about X-parasite origins. In Super Metroid we blow up and save animals from planet ZEBES. Meanwhile X-parasite originates from SR-388 planet where original Metroid colony was created by Chozo with express purpose of Metroids driving X-parasite into extinction - then in Metroid 2: Samus Returns kills every Metroid except for Baby Metroid - then she returns to SR-388 with scientific expedition in Metroid 4 Fusion and she and parts of her semi-organic costume get infected - Galactic Federation removes 90% of Samus' armor via invasive Surgery and Circular Saws, then get all infected pieces shipped off to B.S.L. space research station orbiting SR-388 where X-parasite reforms using DNA data stolen from Samus and her Armor as SA-X and swiftly spreads all over space station. Animals from ZEBES in no way could've brought Parasite X on board with them simply because THEY ARE FROM DIFFERENT PLANETS. Then during Fusion Samus saves Animals from sealed off containment unit - Adam A.I. on Samus ship then confirms that there are NO traces fo X-parasites on Animals - otherwise AI wouldn't have let them on the ship.

I legit never noticed the body on the spikes until you went “Is that John Marston?” Now I’m convinced that’s gotta be an Indiana Jones reference or something.

These Animals transforming into monsters: If you look closely then You see the X-Parasites from Metroid Fusion and Metroid Dread comming out of them. I don't know what they were doing on Zebes, but they are actually supposed to reside on SR388 along with the Metroids who were created to fight the X.

So the "save" option's weird mutation shit with the yellow blobs coming out of them is NOT actually canon. It's based on a completely stupid and asinine Game Theory made by MatPat that's become rather infamous for ignoring basic and established proof and game lore.
@timemonkey Жыл бұрын
MatPat didn't even come up with that theory, it's been around since Fusion came out.
