I found that Gear gets heavy quickly when adding "neat to have". Thanks for showing a solid kit without wasted weight.

Exactly! You have to play around with things to find the right balance.

Your channel was recommended by @Corporals Corner. You doing a great job going over products from a functional perspective. I’m subscribed. (The two of you have rekindled my desire for camping.)

Great loadout! Their MSRP is pretty high; however, buying solid used gear is a great way to get our money's worth. Keep up the great work - your videos have been steadily increasing in both content and videography - I always look forward to your latest vids.

Good setup. Don’t have a Swagman yet . I’ve heard the opening for the head is tight. Worked out well . Just finished watching Tony’s video and yours popped up. Have a good one

I am looking for a new pack. One thing I learned at class was I was carrying way to big of a pack(I think 50-60L). You were able to pack a good amount of items in that pack at 26L. It was also cool to see what the instructors carried all great choices. Learning more each of your videos I watch nice job man.

I think Dave Canterbury uses one of these(GoRuck GR1) as well. I’ve seen him review his on his channel.

Good kit Paul, I too prefer front loading packs over top loading packs!
@adaptablesurvival
@adaptablesurvival 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I've always preferred that style, but do use some top loaders as well.

Suggestion: Have a look at "berghaus centurio 30 iii" 30 L top and frontloader. 1000D material with metal suport frame on the inside. One big main compartment with a hydration bladder pouch. Smaller pouch in the top flap. Designed for mountain usage. I still use the Centurion II, which is a top loader only and two mmps 10 L pouches connected by zipers to the sides. The two pouches can be de and atached within seconds. they come with straps and often become my 20L daypack or a 10 L shoulder bag when i am away from camp to scout / collect water or other resources. What sold me on the system is the flexibility and simplicity. I can go for a walk with 10L, scout for a day with 20L, overnight with 30L or go for the longer stay with 50L (30+10+10) The bag rides high on my back and doesn't interfere with my equipment belt i am wearing in the field. The belt it comes with is more for additional security in dificult terain and can be stored away nicely when not in use. The straps are suficently padded but more of a no nonsens type without mesh or other things which can get caught on you. Had to drop my bag several times in emergencys (my dog could be a real asshole) Was never a problem to get out quick and clean. And i can't find any damages from my use and abuse of the bag. One nice feature i realy like, it stays upright on it's own when packed corectly. I hate it when my shoulder straps get dirty.

I wondered what you guys were carrying during the course. It was nice to get back home, and whittle down my gear to just the basics again. It's surprising how much the 4 drum liners and the big roll of gorilla tape added to the overall pack weight.

Yeah this is pretty much the basic setup for my pack when I teach. It can change a little based on the class but for the most part this is the normal loadout.

Easily the best bag out there imo. For general purpose, survival, etc. Everything you need. Nothing you don't. And it's nearly indestructible to boot.

Good quick and dirty video. It's always a good inspiration to build our own set up. Finally someone who actually wears the backpack in a review. I am wonderding why you did not add some sort of tarp or heavy duty blanquet in the laptop compartment. Any reason for that?
@adaptablesurvival
@adaptablesurvival 3 жыл бұрын
I have my emergency Shelter Kit in my pack so I have a tarp covered. I just don't usually store one in that compartment during a class.

Question: Why is no one talking about the 11th C carabiner or connector? Almost every instructor i have seen carys at least on HMS carabiner in almost every video. How long do you want to keep it secret that there is an 11th C David hasn't told us yet?
@adaptablesurvival

No 11th C. I just use it to hang my gloves on the outside of my pack. I could use it to various other things if I did need to though.

What factors play into your specific pack selection...do you have one pack that can do it all?
@adaptablesurvival

It all depends on my intended use. I have a hard time saying I can only go with one pack. But if I had to, it would be my Kifaru Tarryall.

How much money was spent on the entire kit?
@adaptablesurvival
@adaptablesurvival 3 жыл бұрын
I spend a minimum of a quarter to a third of the year outdoors. So I tend to buy stuff to test out. This particular kit, I couldn't give you an exact number but definitely not the cheapest out there.
