Good, comprehensive review. Like the square style and very few outside compartments. However, the price is up there. Would be nice to hear some comparables at different price ranges. It is also refreshing to see someone put these on that isn't 20/fit/skinny. I think most of us relate to you better than them. Always like when I see you've done a new vid. Thanks!

Thanks for the support, definitely an expensive bag and I like the idea of comparing features on this vs similarly less expensive packs. I have a Ctactical and Cabin Zero that I think would be good comparisons.

Great detailed review. I only travel with ONE personal item bag. and nothing else. Not sure If I need something super rugged when I am just travelling from The airport to a Hotel and that is it for 3 - 4 weeks/ BUT GoRuck is perfect for adventure travel or day hikes etc.

The Cordura is probably overkill for casual travel. Next I'm going to try out the GR1 in ripstop, it's much lighter and I think will work better for that style of travel.

Thanks for the review this was great. I Love the Goruck brand, I own 6 of them. Different use cases. I think the idea that some have that Goruck bags are overbuilt is ridiculous. The more they are protectively built the Better. You don’t like it go get a different bag from a different brand don’t knock the company for trying to make the best product they can in their estimation. Yes they are pricey (I don’t care) and the bigger bags are heavier (I might get a lighter material for the GR2 26L I’m getting next month) but it’s still my overall bag choice. Only thing I Really don’t like is that 210D back panel and straps. HATE IT. Too damn slippery. Forget carrying it on one shoulder with that material it slides too much. But I love the bags so I deal with it. I carry it cinched tighter or by the top handle. Sometimes a fanboy has to do what has to be done lol.

Best review I have seen on GR2! Question does that mean the GR2 34L would not be allowed as a carry on? Looks like carry on will be accepted now. But under the seat it will not fit. Per these rules… Including wheels and handles, carry-on bags must not exceed 22" L (55.88 cm) x 14" W (35.56 cm) x 9" H (22.86 cm). Under the seat: Personal items must not exceed 17" L (43.2 cm) x 13" W (33 cm) x 8" H (20.32 cm).
@OneBagTravels7 ай бұрын
Yeah the 34L is within those dimensions so should work fine.

Great video! Where does this rank on your one-bagging list? Since the bag is fairly boxy, the cubic inches/61 = 26.7L which matches your peanut test. I love GoRuck but dislike the black interior on black exterior. The Ripstop models have contrasting interiors as well as a QAP. As you note, they are lighter. They don't hold their shape as well as 1000D and probably won't last as long, but SCARs warranty might make it worth it.
@OneBagTravels8 ай бұрын
Black on black isn't my favorite either. When I get around to it I'm going to try out the GR1 with the grey/blue colors, I like that combo. I wasn't sold on this bag at first, but after using it for a few weeks I really like it. I like the front panel pockets, it's boxy which is a good use of space so holds a lot, and I like the look of it. The downside for me is the weight, but I think it would like it more in the ripstop fabric with a more fun color.

How comfortable is it. Did it get hot on you? I find that fully packed out the top part of the short straps don't wrap around my shoulders.

It's decently comfortable, I brought it to Costa Rica and despite it being hot there it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I really enjoy the variety of reviews you offer. I was wondering what were your thoughts in terms of comfort when comparing this to the Cabin Zero 28? I know there is a huge price difference, weight, and actial capacity. Thanks for all the content.
@OneBagTravels8 ай бұрын
That would be a good comparison video. Cabin Zero is well built for the price and I think a really good bargan. GR2 has a unique interior organization that I haven't seen on any Cabin Zero bags, so there's that if you like the style. For the simpler bags, like comparing the Military 28 to the GR1, I think it's mostly a matter of quality and durability. Cabin Zero works fine for most travel situations and I would expect to last a long time under normal travel. If you carry a lot of weight, abuse your bags more than normal, or want something that will likely last your entire life, then GoRuck is better.

Holy cow - amazing backpack - but for that price you could buy a Jansport Hatchet 8 times over and get similar functionality. I love quality, but flying with a PI only is about saving costs - this pack blows that goal!
@OneBagTravels8 ай бұрын
Cost savings may be one goal for personal item travel, another one is the freedom of travel with just a small bag.

good video I have a question what is the difference between sanity 1000 and sanity 500
@OneBagTravels7 ай бұрын
About 500 sanities. But assuming you meant the fabric weight? 1000D Cordura is one of the thickest, most durable fabrics available. 500 is still very good and probably more than sufficient for virtually every use of a travelbackpack, but it's a little thinner than the 1000.
@jduarte15067 ай бұрын
@@OneBagTravels I prefer cordua as fabric in the bag, Goruck has a cordura 1000 and cordura 500 bag, I'm seeing which would be better
@OneBagTravels7 ай бұрын
@@jduarte1506 I wouldn't say one is better. 1000 is better in terms of quality and durability, but it's heavier. 500 works fine for most people unless you're dragging the bag behind a car.

Compare goruck to others backpacks that have breathable back panels, does it really have a big different ? (In your opinion) thank you sir
@OneBagTravels7 ай бұрын
That's a good one, I plan on doing a GoRuck comparison in the future. Breatabilty depends on where you are and how long you're carrying the pack. Somewhere warm carrying the pack for a long time breathability is nice. I carried this bag around Costa Rica for several hours at a time to test it, your back is going to get sweaty but for me my back gets sweaty no matter how breathable the back is 🤷♀️
@xavierhanquez48186 ай бұрын
do you think that the 26L is enough for work out material (kimono, boxe gloves,...)?
@OneBagTravels6 ай бұрын
Seems like it would be enought room, but the GR2 has several compartments so maybe boxing gloves would be difficult to fit. Maybe one of their bags with just a big main compartment like the GR1 would work better as a gym bag.

They are good bags for sure, the price is justified in the quality but I can see why someone would choose a cheaper alternative. Depends on what you do with the bag and how long you'll use it. For a lifetime of travel using the bag hundreds or thousands of time it's a good choice. But if you're using them casually it's probably overboard.
